I wanted a tablet in the order of 10 "and had to test a N10 and a ipad4 for each a few days the great fortune of friends.
Nexus 10 16GB (first tested)
At the very first turn on I was impressed on the screen, and the responsiveness of Android 4.2. Razor sharp, crisp colors and good viewing angles. Widgets and setting options are a dream! Internet surfing and films are almost a pleasure. In addition, it was rooted and could therefore also manage USB sticks / hard drives - awesome!
After the 2 days I realized fairly quickly that I'll probably get me the Nexus 10, because I also have a modern Android smartphone call my own and not really a fan of Apple'm (just have an old iPod nano and that's it).
Ipad 4 16GB WiFi
A few days later a friend borrowed his ipad4. First, I noticed immediately that it was a little harder felt, but also a little bit of sound or higher quality. The display is, as with the N10, brilliant, the colors are not quite as crisp, but perhaps a little "real" (subjective assessment). Viewing angle also slightly better, at the edge to give both MMN nothing. The form factor is then surprised me a bit, 4: 3 on the iPad, I felt the same reading as comfortable surfing the Internet and newspaper / eBooks. On the other hand, the N10 is the clear front watching movies, also due to the stereo speakers and even 16:10. Nevertheless, the sound of the iPad for a speaker is really surprisingly good. iOS is structured differently, clearer, less playful, but also sometimes cumbersome (setting changes go at Android 4.2 faster by hand).
After one day I noticed just but also that I use a Tablet mainly for Internet, newspapers and books, and rather rare for films and TV series. It is here that the nose has the iPad MMN clearly forward, especially with the App and also offer the design of those. Furthermore all boils down something liquid (not faster!), Even if only a very very small difference.
What so I'm getting at is the fact that the iPad a much better selection of customized Apps has (especially towards newspaper and photo editing). But who wants to go more towards audiovisual media, which should probably pick up the N10. When rooted N10 the possibilities are also varied, to use his device in different directions. Even the accessories you will currently find faster for the iPad. Granted this is usually also a bit more expensive, but there are simply more covers, even if this will change in the coming months. But alone the selection of cases (I had the poly-Smart Cover for ipad, simply brilliant, a 3rd Party Smart Cover for N10, well ok, but not great), and other accessories for the ipad convincing. Finally, the battery lasts a little longer and the iPad needs a little shorter to load.
I'm really not Apple disciples etc., I wanted to describe only my subjective decision, perhaps to help one or the other. There are good reasons for an N10, but also for an iPad. It seems important to me like you want to use the tablet. You definitely want an Android tablet, then you can safely pick up the N10 and is very happy. But if you want a tablet primarily for surfing and reading and is not fixed to a manufacturer or operating system, then the iPad is currently mMn the better choice. What use is it to me now that the Play Store Although steadily catching up and certainly will have some more accessories soon. I prefer to use the tablet now and also pay a lot of money.
Well so I decided and I am satisfied, are both perfectly not;)
Ps I am deliberately not specs and performance received exactly on the hardware, since both tablets in the end all tasks equally mastered well, so camera, games, photo viewing and browser both really good, hardly notable differences ausmachbar. Who cares about things like that, just search reviews on the net, there's really enough;)
