Buy pronto. Here are my impressions:
* Beautiful object, well finished, while very compact metal but a bit "heavy", very reassuring short, so German quality. Not particularly sexy, but endearing.
* The doc in French (including firmware update) is clear and detailed.
* The control buttons fall well under the fingers and use is intuitive (and I am a fifties)
* I will not detail the interface, which is basic as expected, no frills but efficient and ergonomic.
And the sound?
The headphone output is remarkable. I never heard anything like it. This is better than a CD on my headphone output (excellent) amp: the same tonal balance, with a little more dynamics, definition, respect for stamps, aeration, sound plans.
NB: since I compared by plugging the Fiio a super dedicated headphone amp. Well, it's still a little bit better, but it would make a (big) and more device and its power supply to plug in, and quite zeuros to add.
Now the only DAC:
That's good, nothing to say. Very clean. Impec.
Note that this is not better (but good) as my Harman Kardon CD player - which is separable, with SPDIF / Optical inputs.
Actually it is kif kif. But given the space, cost, and potential, there's no picture ;-)
Now a bunch of pleasant details:
- Switching on / off 3 sec (those with a smartphone, tablet or PC worst appreciate)
- Emphasis manageable before (but I would like a maximum of 10 or 30 minutes instead of 2 minutes only)
- Autonomy of relief (I will return)
- Functions, settings and parameters sufficient and easily accessible
- As a USB DAC, I plugged my tablet (with the kivabien OTG cable) and I have every imaginable apps
- Storage capacity in infinite reality since we can insert micro SD card 16GB
CONCLUSION:
In fact I love it for all I was not looking necessarily:
* Huge autonomy: not to worry about charging, no standby power (let him sleep eight days remain to almost 100%), recharge very fast, as well as via via usb charger.
* As a USB key: connected to a PC, clear management of files: drag and drop, rename, move, create (sub) folders ...
In short I have finally need anything other than this little gizmo that can lug around with his entire CD collection!
I stop here, I'm in love ;-)
