The VR II version of the Nikon kit lens is quick to AF, the light intensity is of course not the best but acceptable for the price. At my D5200 with the lens I can not report anything negative. For me as a hobby / social clippers a worthwhile investment and completes the 55-300 VR is the focal length toward the bottom thoroughly. Only negative, in which part there is no lens hood to those costs angular extra cash, too bad!
