The idea to write the Austen novels from the perspective of the male protagonist is not new and has been implemented successfully many times before. Here it is not managed. The novel is written as a diary (as the title suggests) but the messages are very short and linguistically fit not to a man of 18/19. Century, especially not to one who puts on a neat writing style according to Jane Austen's description value. The character Darcy is rather garbled explained here than closer. Elizabeth Bennet is also very short here. It lacks halt the witty verbal exchanges of the template. Well to give the whole a certain charm, even the pre-marital sexual activity of the Lord is taken into account in detail. True to the motto "And around my hometown no maid her innocence has" seems the described here Darcy to mount everything in three is not on the trees (except Sunday, one is professing Christian), preferably servants or Bordella Excepted. It may be that the so true, but let's be honest, historically in most men: we wanted to know so exactly? If I want to find out about the sexual behavior of the English upper class in past centuries, I read Fanny Hill that has more style. In my view, you do not have read this book.
