In recognition of the work of Mark Hollis and TalkTalk have several artists in 2012, ie about 20 years after TalkTalk ceased to exist, come together and a double CD with 30 recorded cover versions of songs from the five albums of the band. The result of this excellent work can be seen and heard. It concerns with the recorded tracks is not about to incoherent strung together cover versions that were at some time heard somewhere. No care was taken pains to by the producers that this album sounds as a unified whole, while the melancholy side of the work of TalkTalk is emphasized. So the seven gecoverten titles of the first two New Wave albums "The Party`s Over" and "It`s my Life" appear in a completely new light and bring the evidence that the sad melancholy mood that to everything dominant hallmark of should be band was already created in these two albums.
That the work now presented is presented in a flawless quality, is certainly due to the fact that none other than Alan Wilder - former member of Depeche Mode - has placed himself here as a musician and producer, the hand on the knob and buttons.
The CD cover was - as with all Talk Talk albums - designed by James Marsh in the known detailed imaginative way. Unfortunately, the double CD lacks a booklet with information about making the piece. But this seems clearly so intended, because you can order a TalkTalk book on this CD spirtoftalktalk.com on the same website. Here is the 40 pound sterling per se rather high price of the book or by delivery of more than 20 British pounds topped (Evil to him who thinks evil of it!).
All in all, the double CD a masterpiece that should be in every CD shelf. Not only for fans a must, but also for friends of melancholy, soft music to relax. Those who are convinced of the CD, is also can buy three more cover versions as MP3 on the Internet.
My Rating for this CD: five star premium
