I opted for the K290, as I pleased with Logitech has always been (as opposed to various keyboards of other brands in the office), you very simple but does not look visually cheap and I the tons of function keys like my old MX3000 (> 40 ) have never really needed and also need no wireless more.
The K290 As already written optically kept very simple, down to the bright blue on the lower housing part and cable. The rest of the case is black, dark gray keys. The casing is very stable, one hears no cracking or creaking when you try to twist. It is also very good on the table and does not slip. As usual, she has 2 folding feet for high places of the keyboard. The keys themselves are quite flat, not formed concave. Yet they offer good grip but when typing and it does not slip away. The key layout is quite classic, as I know it from my first keyboard in front of> 20 years. The keystroke is like Logitech advertised really very quiet. The pressure point is very comfortable and right at the beginning. As another reference I have here the keyboard from the Logitech Wireless Combo MK520 my parents, which has convex keys and their pressure point and writing feeling is not really good. The key label is stuck in my MX3000 only the M and S has in 7 years but slightly worn. All other letters still look fresh.
The keys have their own wells. Whether here in the long term can accumulate a lot of dirt and how you can then clean the keyboard again, remains to be seen.
The palm rest is out of my view, unfortunately a little short, my palm is already on the edge, which is not really designed rounded. 1-2 cm more length would have been desirable here. This costs the 5th star in rating.
The K290 is limited to a minimum of function keys (F1-F12 + Calculator button on pushbutton + Documents button on Right Ctrl). 6 Of these 14 in turn can be individually configured (F6-F11 are set with Back, Play, Forward, Silent, Discreet, Loud) preset. About the Logitech software can still define whether you want to have the F-keys or the multimedia keys by default (2 occupancy than holding the FN key).
The software also offers the possibility to disable the Num / roles / Ins / Umschaltfeststeller and the Windows key. Except for the Windows key I have also made use of.
Who mainly needed an inexpensive keyboard with some comfort (function keys) for writing and casual gaming, which I would highly recommend this keyboard. Who needs a variety of function keys, is another need.
