The tape is stuck permanently fixed to the metal edge, so you waste good 3-5cm role each time it is stuck. A "roll" on an object such as a package as one would expect from a dispenser close to impossible. I just think it's therefore handy because you do not have to look for the start of the roll every time and no scissors needed. As a "dispenser" useless as a mobile roll holder quite acceptable.
