Grid Autosport is certainly not the mother of all racing games, as some had hoped the apparently. But it is in my opinion also not a bad game. I have 1 grid up and down played, even Grid 2, the Dirt series, F1 and also Project Cars. I always play with a steering wheel in the cockpit view (if any ....).
I want the same to the negative start.
- The career mode is abysmal. There is no such workshop in Grid1, not have their own team - ever, there is no presentation. You do not even buy vehicles that provides the sponsor. The EP gained from sponsorship contracts degenerated thereby an unnecessary joke.
- Many of the routes are old acquaintances, here is hardly something new done except that they have been visually enhanced somewhat.
- The cockpit view is just a blurred somewhat. Me personally does not bother so, because there is a view in the one from within the dashboard looks, so a little bit closer to the hood as the actual cockpit perspective. For me, the view of choice takes too much away from the screen and still has realism. But who wanted to read instruments takes the tube.
- The graphics are not much better than in Grid2, which is probably due to the console, with which one has waived Next Gen. While there is a high-resolution textures package that you can Download, but the differences are examined with a magnifying glass.
- The opponent AI is sometimes a bit too aggressive. This really is in some racing modes OK, it also pushes always something. But at the competitions, where more care and anticipation is gone, it's just annoying when one blows the AI of the runway because she absolutely does not avoid.
This is positive:
- There are exciting races as in Grid 1. The AI is demanding, but also makes mistakes and ensures some spectacular accidents and a very intense race feeling. The driving physics is fine, with driving aids parked and switched damage it is quite challenging.
- The online mode is great. Here to be able to buy cars for money won, it has to be repaired, it can be painted individually, staring them sponsors plan to meet its objectives, has weekly challenges ... and much more.
- If you turn off the driving aids reached the game a pleasant mix of simulation and arcade.
Conclusion:
Grid Autosport makes many things right but many do not. It stands in the single player presentation empty-handed. Simulation fetishists are also the nose. Who has been looking forward to the cockpit view, is likely to be quite disappointed once. Nevertheless, GA is the right direction after the disappointing Grid2. The online mode is really well done and motivated, especially since the car can be adapted, bought new cars and old can be sold, repair costs incurred etc. you have to wonder why the single player mode has so little to offer.
GA is not a racing simulation. For this you have to then rather for example. Project Cars View but it is also no need for speed. It has a good mix of both, the right thing for those where casual is too little and too much Simu. Who Grid 1 or the Dirt series like and is ready to play multiplayer, which should give a chance Autosport. I for one am in spite of messed single player constantly motivated one race to go.
