Not bad, but annoying

The Stanley 5l compressor is technically sound and could at least four, maybe even have five stars, if he is not the note would ruin through unnecessary vulnerabilities themselves. As far as the short form.

The 5L version I bought more by mistake; I really wanted a larger tank. When the device was then there, I decided to keep it because it is light enough so that my wife can use it well, without ordering a crane or carrier. This size can inflate tires and perform other short-term actions; for Working with spray gun or other permanent consumer it is unsuitable.

The unit is solid; nothing seems cheap. The function is delivered properly: after plugging in and turning on the compressor takes less than 1min to bring the tank to max.pressure; then it switches off - and then on again automatically as soon as the tank pressure falls below a nominal value. The sound is sonorous and therefore well tolerable, but louder than a vacuum cleaner (and dramatically louder than a washing machine in spin cycle, as one reviewer spoke nicely).

The unit is the compressor with tank and fittings - nothing else. Oh yes, there's a filling tube of 80cm with a flap valve, as it was found at petrol stations 40 years ago. More on this below. To use the device, you need accessories, the total of twice as much cost as the compressor: hose, gun, useful tire inflator etc.

As far as the good news, and as I said, I keep the device. This advance brings me to the list of deficiencies that verhagelt the good in itself, the unit Note:

1. Manual
The manual is mainly scrap. It does not explain all the parts of the tool, describing parts that are non-existent, delivers images that are nowhere referenced what is tolerable but because the pictures are almost useless anyway. For expiry typical activities the text is too short of a distance; Practicing and Oh S *** and learning is announced.

2. Charging hose
The device comes with a 80cm hose with tilting valve at the end (see above) This is obviously a token supplement, so you can not say it would be a compressor and nothing else, and so can not be used. The manual has never heard of this component. (Only a close examination shows that the loose papers that are usually thrown away anyway, a book supplement for this filling hose included - again useless for understanding and with images that can not see anything.

If you want to fill a tire with this tube, one finds:
a) There is nowhere a pressure indicator. The leaflet confirms this: we should "use a tire pressure gauge while" ...
b) the leverage that you have to tilt to send air into the tube is on the side, which should be the bottom in the operation according to the manual. In other words, it is necessary to use an impermissible operating state, in order to use the hose.

3. Drain Valve
At the bottom of the device is the drain valve, with which you empty the tank and can carry out condensation. It is actuated by a rotary lever. This is so stupid fitting that you have to fiddle with the tool, because you can not make it with the fingers alone. (My fingers are considered strong, but no chance.)
Once you aufhat the lever, it can be seen that the hand is exactly where 10bar air flows, even if only for a moment. As can be approved by TÜV something, she will not reveal to me. But I would have ideas ...

4. Print Ads
The device has two pressure gauges, one for the tank pressure and one for the max.pressure the default port. (It is not clear whether this pressure restriction also applies to the above Alibi hose.) In practice, both indicators are useless and unnecessary: ​​the tank pressure judged you according to whether the compressor is still working and again, the discharge pressure to provide even one eyed Kniepen, and to inflate tires you need eh an accessory with a useful large and readable pressure gauge ,

5. Cable
The cable is as usual too short to connect the device anywhere - except right next to an electrical outlet. You could either für'n euros more to install a reasonable 5m cable, or simply none at all and only offer a plug connector on the machine, such as machine tools do that for a long time. Again: pure alibi, not for practice.

Conclusion: a solid device with a practical foreign scrap and saving Design in the Stanley aesthetics (robust and barebones; not so'ne plastic orgy like Bosch :-), that's good for clean filling and a little barbecue blow. Who really wants to work with air, a device with a larger tank (and more muscles into play) needs.
