I've been using the I'm also the Overlock machine W6 100% satisfied and I would highly recommend to anyone. Due to my satisfaction with this machine, I decided to replace my old Singer for a W6 as a 'normal' sewing machine.
The machine sews well, although it took a while to find the right settings for me (and the jersey fabrics).
Positives:
- Volume (not too loud)
- Threader (super!)
- (Hardly had problems with it) thread guide
- Holder for twin needle
- Stitch selection
- Light (for me perfectly fine)
- Bobbin case + Jump (without problems)
But my criticisms:
- Speed
For me this insane (!) Is fast! My foot cramped when I try a reasonably slow to sew (eg when cleaning with Streif Enver Jersey needed). That I can not sew slow or fast, is really a problem for me. The other assessments according to which the engine supposedly "lame" Anyway, I can not understand. Or the machines are really so different?
- Decorative stitches unclean
This really is a great pity. While straight stitch and zigzag stitch pattern give a very homogeneous, the decorative stitches can really something to be desired. Disappointing if this aspect leads to the purchase decision! The crescent engraving works quite well. But in particular, the Honeycomb stitch and Overlock Stitch are barely visible - the stitch pattern as should look like it's actually - tries with different settings - not hinzubekommen. Disappointing!
- The thread tension
I have to adjust the thread tension to almost 1, so that the seams are not too tight. Seams in higher settings are much, much too tight. For Jerseystoffe completely useless!
- Too much pressure and train
The presser foot pressure is quite high and also the train from below. At first I found this to be very positive for thick and solid substances makes a little more sense. But for Jersey and similar substances which is a big problem. Since pressure and train are much too violent, the Jersey ALWAYS curl. No matter what I try (do not pull, thread tension looser, Jersey needle, matching yarn) it may wrinkle. That's a shame.
CONCLUSION:
For people who are looking for a good home sewing machine for small and large, practical sewing, this machine met more than its purpose.
But I would not buy the sewing machine again. Who sews more and wants to process and decorate particular jersey fabrics to clothing, which should probably invest in a sewing machine with an adjustable presser foot pressure and adjustable speed.
