Not bad, but not passed my test

As with my 3.5 years old Asus O! Play Mini the important feature for me to start a movie at completion point again, no longer worked, I was looking at an alternative Philips. Searched but not found.
My Compare Asus (A) to Philips (P).

Appearance:
The casket has already Look and after all, the USB cable now plugged into the side and not in front as in A. power but keep the original look also destroyed and one wonders why the USB port can not be well behind. The 45 degree construction is however in direct sunlight and the high-gloss finish (who also always generally these mischief devised) fatal for your viewing pleasure.

Surface menu:
Here both give nothing. The P shows the main menu colored menu items for USB, SD card and setup, the rest is in B / W. Irritating for me was that when, for example list of files / folders to a hard disk "grayed out" until the selected one of the rest. On Windows interface that is simple ... the point is not active. Is the P may be hard, but getting used to. In English language menu of P also shows good "No Subtitle" on. Why then so sloppy "K. Subtitle" must be made in the German translation, not only looks ugly, but just know Philips.

Subtitles:
Here I can understand the behavior of P not really (spontaneous test). Formats such as SRT or SUB lt. Data support. The latter was, however, represented only in white and although the options for example, resizing and color was navigable, the setting could not be changed. In other subtitles setting could indeed be changed, however, were the not displayed.

Photos:
Here I must admit that there was an application error on my part, if necessary. Photos are displayed in a slide show, and could be interrupted for longer prestige only by pressing the Play / Pause button. Lt. BDA must probably only create a photo album to look at photos in succession in peace.

Music:
There seems to be no major differences between A and P. At least I could think of nothing to, because music I hear usually via CD or tough ... the turntable. ;-)

Movie formats:
P will probably be a "omnivores", but felt 10-year-old file in format DIVX he did not play. While the A with a similar file still showed a visible error message, the P twitched briefly and refused to work. Chill is here my A front.

Before or rewind:
By that I mean the function keys on the left and right of the central OK button. The A jumps here in resistant about 10 minutes during the movie forward or backward, shows the image without sound. When P this seems to be format-dependent. Here one must surely hold the button constantly to get from initial stages to about 2 minutes more, which sags between the image and sound fragments are sometimes heard. Chaos somehow. The Prior or Züruckspulen 2 -32fach seems to be format-dependent. Here, the A is easy to clean.

Lt. Philips (and the opinion of a reciter here; -)) no plates> 1TB and USB 3.0 are supported. That's been in my test Unfug.Angeschlossen

It was interesting, however, that the first P no USB device complained, but then obediently read the plate. And that was ultimately the no go. Each time the connection plates of P raided again on data / folder. The meaning is never realized in A me there but you can turn off this option in principle.

My Conclusion:
3 stars = Not bad
For nearly 50 interesting for users who do not mind my related issues and want simply times View photos or movies, without question great (lack of) functionality. I think further out the Asus O! Play Mini ... as long as it still exists.
