- The enclosed cable is inadequate or non-shielded.
Why is this problematic? USB3 generates a broadband noise at frequencies up to 5GHz and above. Bluetooth, WiFi and various proprietary wireless running on the 2.4GHz band (WLAN running on 2.4 and 4GHz, whichever version). The noise is generated when USB has a connection.
Ie. once you infects the hard drive, even if you transfer any data, a WLAN or Bluetooth connection is greatly impaired (slow) or often even cancel completely.
After I stumbled precisely over the issue and I had been tested by a colleague after the occurrence of problems another cable with which I could not detect any significant drop in wireless performance, I have a AmazonBasics made me USB3 cable - and lo and behold, also hereby there are no problems.
Conclusion: The supplied cable is garbage. It has incidentally almost half the cross-section of the AmazonBasics cable
Under the sense that anyone who buys such a plate would probably use this mobile, and probably at the same time want to use Wi-Fi, I see it as a serious criticism.
Other Rating:
* The hard drive is incredibly quiet for a non-SSD drive, almost inaudible, even in quiet surroundings - really really good
* Access times and transfer rates have surprised me very positively - again for that there is no SSD (see benchmark below for numbers) only when encrypting the disk I was a little disappointed with about 20MB / s was the rather slow on its own. In which case most likely the OS has chosen a bad block size value which could easily go 5x faster than the benchmark below shows
