Packing:
The camera, the additional lens and other accessories were packed safely with me. The box is handy, everything is good place in it and each piece is individually wrapped with a light paper. Thus, no scratches arise when unpacking.
Scope of supply:
The kit includes the camera itself and a 10-30mm lens and a 30-110mm lens. Both have an image stabilizer, which I welcome. Also supplied is a lens hood. While this seems not very stable, but served its purpose. And it's a big plus that this is already bundled with Nikon. Canon and other companies charge for this extra money again.
In addition, there is of course the battery, battery charger, manual, etc.
The camera features a multi-function port for flash, microphone, GPS and much more. So you can still extensively further equip this camera.
Service:
The screen is sharp - the writing is legible. The brightness can be adjusted manually, which mainly outdoors in nature is often very practical.
An image magnification on the display is not possible, which I think is very unfortunate.
The menu is long, however, self-explanatory and not "nested". Nevertheless, the attached "Operating Instructions" worth reading, because they allow companies still encounter a few little things that could have been even maybe not so quickly.
The camera itself is very small and "handy". For large hands, it could be a problem, because they might "to" is small. Unlike a "big DSLR", it is really quite a difference and handling must once again be "practiced". The camera is very light, the handle is well built, so that you simply can hold in your hand so the camera also without loop.
A great idea I find the charger. It saves space, you can take it in the super holiday and it even still has an "adapter" - an English plug, to which then the German is plugged. That was once not so easy for me, but if it is time on it, he is it - and is also difficult to back down. ;-)
Image Quality:
As beautiful as the camera itself is also - small, handy, modern ... unfortunately I was very disappointed with the picture quality.
In good lighting conditions, the images are good - but compared to the DSLR it affect me somehow "fake". With a DSLR, I can not compare them here (I have, however, also "only" the 550D from Canon), rather with a small digicam cheaper segment.
Adjustable are ISO values 160-6400, where from 800 before the image noise can be seen from 1600 and you can really forget it. Therefore, bringing the high ISO numbers here unfortunately nothing.
Indoor shots or darker areas or even in bad weather have become not really appealing.
An advantage is that the camera in the RAW format, therefore you can in such situations, at least retrospectively edit the still pictures (whether as always wants the question remains). For processing, you need the supplied software.
The built-in flash is good, he is from the result comparable with simple digital cameras. For more results you should buy the shoe mount flash to.
General:
Clear - a system camera can not compare with a DSLR you - I have done it anyway, just because it was always said that these two cameras would be very comparable.
For me, there is little comparison here. The system camera is good for fair-weather photos and snapshots. It lies well in your hand, you do not need big pockets, it is not as fast heavy in the hand. But if you want go into more detail, you need the camera in indoors, then you will quickly reach the limits of this camera.
For me it is therefore: Dear repeatedly "tow" and a large photo rucksack have - but for satisfactory image quality and no trouble, and that this is "currently" not about that.
For smaller shots, short trips and if I do so no fancy big photo sessions have, I will always take the Nikon everyone, because for these occasions it is a good camera.
