Diffusion in light comes primarily through diversification. Ie the larger the area of ​​the light (eg the reflecting walls and ceilings, or by a studio umbrella), the softer it becomes and the more harsh shadows are reduced.

This diffuser mainly (not actually the target) reduces the intensity of light - one can but also rules on the camera itself. Due to its small dimensions, the diffusion effect is rather marginal - but may in close-ups and especially Fill-Flash (if the flash is not the only source of light is) the desired effect.
