I got my Harmony 900 now for 6 months.
I even waited with the review.
After reading some reviews here was indeed to be feared that there could be "problems" in using ...
My way to 900 resulted on the Harmony One.
These I bought here on Amazon in an action.
Basically, the One is the "little sister" of the 900.
There are two limitations:
1 .: the H900 can also wirelessly control the two supplied receipient (That would have been I do not care)
2 .: has the H900 additional 4 "color key" (red, yellow, green and blue) which are known by many devices (eg satellite receiver)
Point two meant that the Harmony One I sent it back and got me the 900.
The 900 came virgin to me.
So I have only once downloaded the software from the network and the Harmony connected to the laptop ...
Then with the software (which was a breeze), the various components of the home theater / TV / plant etc. created and
fixed, what, how, when has to work.
An Example:
I want to watch TV.
For that I need:
- The television to "on"
- The satellite receiver to "on",
- The AV Receiver "on",
- The TV to "Input HDMI4"
- The AV receiver to "Input TV" and
- The satellite receiver to "HDMI output"
All that does the Harmony with a single press on "TV".
Of course, they can only do because I have her as "taught" ...
This requires a certain little thought, consideration and patience.
Also, I should know what I want to control which device.
Again an example:
- The satellite receiver switches to the programs
- The AV Reveiver controls to control the volume
The fact that this usually does not work all at once is obvious.
Many things also arise only during operation.
The nice thing is:
It's just a breeze to change things!
If what I do not like or I want to have it otherwise, then I'll get out the laptop, pinch off the H900, change one or the other command
or the key assignment and it's a little bit better again ...
So the H900 is always perfect with the time ...
And the database of Logitech actually knows the most exotic devices.
I had a "JVC HD-ILA hybrid" TV.
A device that has been sold in Germany only in extremely small quantities.
Even this unit knew the database!
Even if something is a device or should be a command that does not know the H900 and the Logitech database:
No problem: of course, the H900 also dominates the good old "learning mode", which we all "normal" Universal-FB know.
So if need be can be transmitted for key and instruction by instruction individually button.
But do not worry, it will be hardly necessary.
For me it concerned only my control RGB LED light strips.
And also the support of Logitech's top!
Friendly, extremely patient, very accommodating.
In the initial setup my new H900 there was a problem.
You did not run :-( or stopped updating each time.
So I called the support.
A solid hour the man patiently phoned me and is again and again the installation procedure run away with me.
Then he decided to send me a new H900.
This I had three days later in the case. And then also ran flawlessly right from the start.
In this connection, a note to all Harmony beginners:
The old (defective) Harmony I was allowed to keep, which is so common in Logitech.
Since the "old" indeed "new" was, I could do that, do what most "clever" fellow man:
They offer these devices on Ebay.
Always in search of a victim who is thinking: "I'll get it somehow out."
The problem with this:
One does not get out!
The old remote control, after getting the new, locked by Logitech.
They can no longer akualisieren so !!!
It is then only plastic garbage!
The only thing you can still continue to use are the battery, the charger and the radio receiver.
The FB is then definitely scrap!
So rather spend two euros more and buy on Amazon! ;-)
So.
I hope I have relieved one or the other, the decision somewhat.
I would buy anyway my H900 again at any time !!!
