The pen can be both filled with standard cartridges, Pelikan system, or the included, simple but functionally reliable converter which can be completely disassembled in a few steps by the way, to clean it. This should be done with each in-use filler 1-2 times a year, just with warm water; course before the ink change when you change the hue. The ink manager together with the spring can be easy for (just) out. The converter is pleased to take this opportunity to have a small amount of silicone lubricant in the right places (piston seal and thread).
The X-450 is full and balanced in your hand and writes with the standard spring having approximately M strength, wet and soft. The spring is quite hard, but this need not be a disadvantage if you like it. A matter of taste. A variation of the line width when writing is hardly possible. The build quality is very good, especially considering the price range absolutely fine!
Who the built-in spring (the very fine looks, but is certainly not coated with 18 carat gold, as the engraving asserted) is not, any size-6-spring can be used, as the plug-in technology of the ink guide just begging to ... In Germany you will hardly find a source of supply for Füllhalterfedern regardless of specific manufacturers association. I ordered for my various Jinhaos springs at "The Goulet Pen Company" in USA. The cost 10-12 euros (excl. 6 shipping) and are incidentally produced in Germany at JoWo in Berlin. Requests there are unfortunately :( answered refused.
So the springs are exported only to the United States and then sent back to Germany.
The Goulet Pen thickness "F" or "M" and a beautiful ink (I prefer Montblanc "Toffee Brown") makes it really fun to write with the Jinhao and thus it is one of my favorite pens for everyday use.
Recommended !! If the price almost a sensation ...
