Landscapes I have in recent years increasingly in the post must correct with respect to the horizon (the reasons:?? Increasing weight of the camera-lens combination or increasing age or the combination of both Who knows ;-)).
The fact that sometimes remained Picture play in the border areas on the track, annoyed me. In this respect, I have a habit when shooting horizons to shoot multiple shots and the best, where the horizon is not or hardly falls and the lake is not idling, select. That this approach to life is not an optimal solution, is clear.
The Solution:
The focusing screen Eg-D is optimal for 6d. horizontally they know on three lines, five lines vertically. The viewfinder is bright, the TV screen darkens not from from the original.
Installation:
He is well described in the package insert. On the Internet there are descriptions of practitioners supported by photos. It can be really daring as a layman! For me, the whole process took 2 minutes and worked out great. The included tool fits perfectly. Crucially, the focusing screen not to touch with your hands (the old). Because fat you get from barely. I myself, and that's my tip at this point - have their hands properly washed, then freed with a lens cloth, the finger on the last fat, just in case that I, the TV screen even fall out of the tool but in the fingers.
Before installing I removed the TV screen and the exposed prism with a GIOTTO-bellows as far as it went from the dust.
Functionality:
Just great! Landscapes in the first shot really horizontal. As a rule in this regard no readjustment necessary. In addition, the lines, in particular the vertical, a more conscious Composition serve. The previously felt 1/3 or 3/4 are now visualized and secure so that the sense of a really designed as a total composition image. The defining property is now even more accurate in the intended image section! Of course - and that is the other side of this added value - one must also not hold law-stubbornly to the line specifications. Some particularly creative image would thus fall by the wayside. But it depends just on us, than those who are behind the viewfinder!
Pleasant also: The lines are clearly visible, but does not come to mind also, that they do not interfere!
To summarize:
A great thing for both the orientation of the horizontal and the image composition in total! I do not want to miss the Bg-D focusing screen!
Annoying thing is that owners of 6d and the 5D Mark II must buy more of this part, because the viewfinder appropriate information not provides. When I purchased the 6d over a year ago, I was excited about the expandable using the Info button on the display level. For tripod ne good thing. But that is no corresponding display exists in the viewfinder especially for landscape shots from the hand, I feel to this day - in the price range - as tragedy. After all, Canon that has changed in its current models (from 70d).
As it comes to the evaluation of Rezenssionsgegenstandes and not to Canons equipment- and pricing here is available for the product Canon Focusing Screen Eg-D from me full credit.
I hope this review was helpful to you!
