- 5GHz channel
The only devices that can 5GHz with me, are the TV and the BD player. Both of which are in the living room during the 7390 half a floor below, is in the office. Unfortunately, I was on any of these devices depending on the 5GHz channel view. Probably the distance is too large or inappropriate way. After I saw that these two devices s also run in 2.4 GHz with 300 Mbit / into the net and I can stream smoothly (of private media server as well as from Internet VOD) HD movies, I have the 5GHz abandoned and disabled. Even my laptop surfing in 2.4 with 170 Mbit / s as fast as never before. The design of the connection is very fast and stable. While it would be nice to be able to spark in less error-prone channel, but also goes so everything quite well. (Compromise!)
- Telephone
We have in our ISDN network 3 phone numbers. A private and a business phone, and a fax number. All analog. As far as I know it from Arcor / Vodafone and Telecom are 3 numbers for ISDN walk and add. But Fritz has only 2 analog inputs. But he has an internal fax (mail and / or hard drive). With an additional program from AVM can also send fax. To take the PBX from the grid, so I had to put away the fax machine and be content with Softfax. This can be seen positively or negatively, because the lack of a fax machine saves the one hand, electricity costs, on the other hand, I was aware of these costs on the purchase of the fax machine. I think you can never replace a proper software Fax. I myself am in the software industry and therefore trust any software hundred percent on the road. (Compromise!)
- Configuration
The interface is very intuitive and structured. I have at no time the instructions needed. Internet, WiFi, telephone, fax, etc. can be configured and in operation easily. The other very useful things, such as night mode, connect by pressing a button, static IP addresses and MAC filter I found and configured in passing. Only, in the first 2 weeks, the surface was 2 times away completely and was no longer accessible. I had the box so far 2 times briefly pull the power to force a reboot. Perhaps it was also due to the Rumfummelei the acquaintance phase. (Or at least compromise?)
- Wi-Fi
The box builds as I said in a very fast stable compounds. You can also give the connected devices username as 'iPod', 'laptop', "Hugo" or "Fritz". and has a good overview of which device, as is underway in the WLAN view. Only, it is time and again the same device a second name as if it were a new device and creates a second connection with him. This he come himself and gets confused and unhappy machine stops sparks and no longer comes in the net. It often happens when Fritzbox WLAN in night service goes beyond eight during a wireless client stays awake. If the Fritz box wakes up, he finds the device quickly, but does not recognize it again and treat it as a new customer and gives it a new IP address, which is not quite as good. So for us the TV at night pulled the socket, or the respect for the night Fritz deactivated so that tomorrow everything funzt.
(Compromise!)
- Media Server
Give the Fritz a hard drive and you have besides a free media server. Here I will not say anything further. Those like me who would be a free media server, in this regard has no great pretensions. But who has big claims or how I come in retrospect on the flavor, is at Fritz need more to close as a compromise. However, as a file server, he is strong. You can connect the drive in Windows as a remote drive and share. Here I've missed so far nothing.
- USB connections
One can in addition to the hard drive, hang a second USB device into the box. For me the old USB printer-copier-scanner to Los drew. The printer would you could use on Fritzbox quite simple and straightforward as a network printer. However, it can do more there. With an additional small program from AVM can also scanner functionality of printers remotely avail. Only, since I had to come back empty-handed once from the printer, do I check, before the trip to the printer, in the AVM program, if the printer and laptop are still connected. (Small compromise)
Conclusion:
Who all have to the box can theoretically, would implement uncompromising in practice, will not be happy with a device in this price range. For the rest, who knows what he has paid, the 7390 is a good buy.
