The model selected by me is the one shown here Walimex Boom Stand WT-501
Delivery:
Went as Amazon (and their subcontractors) used liberally vonstatten. Packaging was perfect
The contents of the box
In the box, the tripod, the gallows are (already using swivel joined together) and the counterweight (already cultivated), all well packed in polythene bags. To remove the film, however, the weight must be removed. The tripod weighs about 8kg complete
The tripod
Telescopic stand with 2 sections, maximum height (up Spigot) approx 175cm - also useful as normal light stand, if not more degrees is required than 2m height (but then so helps the further gallows), color: black
The Gallows
Telescopic boom with 2 sections, maximum length (up Spigot) approx 210cm. Color: Black
The swivel joint
Robust, durchgeschwärzte plastic plates that are clamped by means of screw handle from one another and pinch so the gallows as well as tripod. Toothing on both sides ensures that the set angle unintentionally changed and the flash remains in its predetermined height.
The flash shooting
Both the stand as well as the gallows have at the end on a common in photography 5/8 spigot, which serves as a receptacle for flashes etc. The spigots have continued via a 'inch thread.
The spigot can be inferred, and are (as the telescopic elements) connected via clamping mechanism firmly to the tripod.
The counterweight
Is solid at Walimex (and painted in bright yellow), which means an iron weight of 4.3kg, which holds by clamp assembly on the stand (and even well slip through the inner rubber) and can be moved on the pole.
Who partout not like full metal, etc. may of course also NEN sandbag means of a clamp (not included, must itself be what tinkering) fix.
The stability
Fits. Sure, the big Boom Stands (with wheels) offer more stability, but also have a (geographically) larger or broader basis. If one good auskontert the counterweight in relation to the flash + light shapers, the tripod is stable.
If you still afraid of overturning has, can easily complain the base with sandbags
The maximum flash Weight (incl. Light shaper)
Walimex is a max. Weighing about 5kg to what seems realistic because of the sturdy tripod material.
Whether the 5kg apply generally or only for certain lengths of the boom (lever rule sends his regards) will be seen in practice. Who uses primary Aufsteckblitze, certainly need not worry about the weight make, studio flash owners should simply set the flash times with light former on the scales' better safe than sorry;)
The construction of the gallows stand
Goes like a normal light tripod quickly from equip - the tripod (the base of the tripod gallows) is when you open something hakelig because it still like canted - but frustration does not come on, you should not break the tripod only.
The various telescopic elements are not fixed by means of screws but via a clamping mechanism. I knew as yet, to shake and wiggle the detailed tripod (without consequences on the stability) but it seems to clamp very firmly the elements.
For the adjustment of the gallows (angle) you definitely need both hands because you lost the screw on the connection is steered (next to the gallows) also equal to the connection resolved to stand. An adjustment is then possible, but cumbersome. This reflects the price most clearly again.
My conclusion for Walimex WT-501 Boom Stand
The walimex Boom Stand is located in the lower price segment, but the value for the Euros is more than okay. The boom stand leaves a solid impression, even if it is (unlike its competitors) acts here and there a little crudely, the adjustment turns out to be somewhat more complicated. Who wants to have better, should also estimate about twice the price.
