OMG what a pity

What a beautiful piece of engineering. Hardware at its best and then as a half-baked software. PlayStore and all the usual Google services go of course just as wenigig Chromecast. The Amazon store offers for every day a great free app and the device is now at an unbeatable price. Really sleek hardware but what a pity that nothing really fits together:
The user interface is terrible, the many sensors are hardly used. What could have been there to reach with eye tracking everything! Instead appear a confusing interface without widgets with a much too large "carousel" under the more or less useful information - mostly information about similar apps that just confuse. The gesture control is only rudimentary and not very intuitive. The "killer feature" Firefly recognizes almost nothing, Mayday is it a great thing.
The sound from the speakers is pretty bad, after all, the supplied headphones are really good.
The reception qualities are mediocre, LTE is fast, the voice quality is ok though the noise reduction could be better. The display is absolutely top.
With the right software, a sophisticated operating concept and more attention to detail that would be a great smartphone. The device has the potential that is all idle is a real shame. If Amazon stay tuned and polishes on the software that could be a great smartphone - it is a beautiful piece of art, a concept car that leaves much to be desired especially in UI open.

The many sensors, the great camera, the excellent display and none of it is actually used. You could have as much right to this unit.
