My situation: I am several times a year hiking, etc. in the high mountains, even several days. My DSLR weighs incl. Lens 1.6 kg. The camera I have permanently on the body throughout the day, even in the rain (then under the poncho) or with easy via ferrata. Over the years I have tried various systems and methods. From Capture Clip I was a short time excited, probably because it was the best system that was known to me until now.
Overall, I'm but a negative judgment, mainly. In view of the high price, which can outweigh the existing weaknesses in my opinion the more serious
The weaknesses of the clip (when using while hiking backpack) in my opinion are:
- Weight: 150 g are for lightweight hikers not little (if I already drag a heavy camera, then others must all be easy)
- Somewhat difficult to fix: Fits only on relatively thin belt, the screws are quite fiddly
- Complicated shooting: The camera needs to be resolved to take pictures and then be clipped and tightened again
- Mounted Camera straps dangle rum (which should thus remove and replace them with other solutions)
- Mounting only possible on one side, heavy cameras tug on the harness
Especially the latter is in my opinion the main flaw: I had attached the clip on the left shoulder strap of my backpack and 1.5 kg of the camera have the strap visibly pulled down. In addition, the weight was not distributed through the unilateral fixing evenly on the body; ie you have a one-sided loading of only a shoulder and the clip pushes on the chest. A comfortable fit is so not materialize.
Overall, I would therefore the device - not recommended - especially given the steep price. For lighter cameras it is perhaps useful, but also because there are cheaper and more flexible alternatives.
My recommendation in this context: Backpack Straps OP / TECH (Reporter / Backpack connection system) (for EUR 15) in conjunction with longer adapter straps (for EUR 10).
Advantages of the straps in my opinion are:
- Price
- Weight (40g vs. 150g)
- Camera freezes symmetrically across her chest, on both straps; the weight of the camera is so evenly and therefore comfortably on both shoulders
- The camera needs to take pictures not be solved, they just take up and "click" (the camera is not "within seconds" ready, but almost immediately)
I have fully satisfied the so now for over a year in operation, and am. As a counterpart for the Backpack straps I use other (longer) Straps / clips (also by OP / Tech), to which I, when I am in the civilization on the road, one (neoprene) Kameragurt of OPT / Tech clippe.
My conclusion: low-tech beats high-tech. Overall, I think the OP / Tech straps so for the better alternative. They are - I repeat - convenient (because even weight distribution on both shoulders), (not remove the camera needs to take pictures) flexible (as combined with other straps and clips of OP / Tech), functional and - much cheaper!
