On paper ...

... Like the concept still sound good, but it has a distinctly bitter aftertaste!

"Paper Mario" was then the attempt to the SNES highlight "Super Mario RPG" to tie. The look and the whole incident to leave it all somehow look like a kindergarten puppet theater, act in the colorful paper figures finger went on!
On the Gamecube we were allowed some time later experience the sequel to "Paper Mario", which was identical to the eigentllich N64 version. Although the story had no connection with the predecessor, but since both the look and the gameplay were identical (except of course aufpoierten graphics) you felt again immediately captivated. Now Nintendo is trying it again and again so the alleged Cube title wandered ultimately still on Nintendo's Wii.

What should I say? It has done a lot. The look has remained largely the same, but you play this time in the typical Greek style Mario, so how in a sidescroller. There is at first sight not even nearly 3D effects only the minimum you can imagine this.
With good reason, because "Super Paper Mario" plays with the two worlds of 2D and 3D and packed that too in quite a nice story strand, even if only a little.

The biggest difference is probably the combat system which now gestalltet in real time and all the way to old Jump`n`Run manner. The level up work will also no longer with "Flower Points" (EXP) but with the normal points you defeat for collecting coins and level of opponents conceded up in his faded score. Thus, each level has a "High Score" to it is to break and if you is above this predetermined score classifies you his characters weitermit strength, energy and co on. Seen in the RPG element is therefore already not received, though very turned "Jump`n`Run" t.

Another new feature at a Wiigame: Man holding the Wiimote permanently in both hands, just like a SNES or NES pad (not yet as widespread). Via Stauerkreuz moved to his characters, with buttons 1 and 2 leads to actions.
Initially quite unusual, because the Wiimote is really verschwindent small inbeiden hands, but it works perfectly typical Nintendo.

What a little awkward on the controller is the execution of special moves that give extra points. Similar to previous "Paper Mario" it is essential here to perform small tricks to inspire a virtual audience.
It applies directly after striking an opponent instantly Wiimote "shake" to. It sounds simple, but it just feels good not to exercise this action.

It does not take long until then so badly recruited ability learned the Worlds "turn" to and to be able to consider the otherwise flat world in the finest 3D. It was announced big but here is already one of the defects of the whole game:

- It is imme rnur few seconds in the third dimension, because it is a skill that can be used is limited / allowed

- At the beginning still nice to look at, useful later really just unnecessary extra

Yes, it is fun the first level hiding to seek and of course to see the world from a different angle, but this extra fizzles really fast. In addition, it is really less and less used, the further one progresses in the game.

The same applies to other "specials" such as the search for hidden things by simply turning the Wiimote and can scan via the on-screen pointer. One can thus indeed listen about all objects / enemies, but so that you wasted while searching for objects only waste time, because there is to be found next to nothing!

Besides Mario there're also another main characters all have their own abilities. Peach can float via screen, Bowser can spit fire ... It is quite nice, but most of the time you will probably spend with Mario. Another little thing that bothers here: The change of the characters should be facilitated with a "Quick Menu", but it turns out not always easy to push two adjacent buttons on the Wiimote at the same time. ÖFT caught one and only one of them has ever two or three times to try the menu finally pops.
The same applies when it Quick Menu Items or the change from "Pixln" (Small creatures the more special moves allow) access.

What else can you say about the game? Well, it's very gratifying to see again a good sidescroller, but it never feels so much like a Sidescroler or even an RPG on what "Paper Mario" was always otherwise. It feels just like nothing a whole and neither one.

The story can there is not much to save, because it is the weakest story in all "Paper Mario" so far. While new characters are introduced, which certainly brings a fresh breeze, but this time the story is flat as a pancake (pure heart collect and thus the evil Lord defeat) and the verbal sparring between individual Chatakteren is also moved significantly in the background. There are too many dry texts, little joke. Only the world is in a fun way of explaining the "Game Over" could amuse myself somehow and was fun.

Undoubtedly, it remains a nice game with very good approaches. It is also finally an adventure for Nintendo's Wii and no mini-game collection (which is a collection of mini-games are also here !!!), but it just feels not like previous titles in this series and not loads so quickly to another playthrough one as the old parts.

Memo to Boss: evaluate games based on a demo, a trailer or screenshots is subtly ridiculous! The finished product can be judged when you hold it in your hands, not when you know only fragments of it.
