The connection of the plate was perfectly possible the router has also detected the same, here I've just entered a fixed IP and turned off for the Mac address of the DHCP server so that I always get the same IP.
After a few settings and setting up the user, it could even begin. The interface is rather minimalist, but understandable even for beginners. The PC has recognized the network drive via wifi readily the data transmission went fairly quickly.
Now that mobile devices were added and here it then went off. On my HTC ONE S I wanted to access the disk via the ES File Explorer, but this was not working, other file explorer did not go. All I then tried again on my Nexus 10, but again the same effect, the device was not found. So I tried to make the whole more than the built-in media server, this has unfortunately more bad than good works. Problem here is that it takes almost 60 seconds for the media server is found, but most programs have a much lower timeout and therefore does not find the media server. After I have tried many clients, I came across a program called Skifta, which recognizes the media servers reliably.
The media server will recognize easily the established media folder for movies and photos as well as the Audio Files, a disadvantage is to be mentioned that no subfolders are possible and all structural levels appear on one level. The Streminger work per se, but the data transfer via 54 Mbit Waln is too slow to HD to stream content that falter and stutter just in front of him, because the programs are not enough cache. The pictures in a slide show are not fun, this is mainly because that images with 5-6 MB between 4 and 10 seconds bracuhen until they are loaded.
I'll keep the Mini NAS anyway since I now use it simply for daily backup during shutdown and thus copy always my current files on my external hard drive, this is definitely safer than ever to be hoped that at shutdown the plate to the Notebook PC is connected. The ability to stream SD video is still a nice bonus, I will certainly continue to use.
My Conclusion:
For pure PC using the DN7023 works fine and is a cheap alternative to a proper NAS, especially when one does not have external USB hard drives at home. Those who intend to stream HD content to mobile devices, should rather buy a real NAS, which possibly also has an internal WLAN module.
