Apparently, it is frowned upon here bad to write about Nickelback since the venerated apparently as an Indian deity, and any who dares to her temple to saw is outlawed with scathing comments. Of course, not in vain to sell the boys million albums - which has already who buy.
However, I've always been a rebel and believed that gods must be overthrown. But first I want to tell you that I do not fundamentally reject Nickelback, and music from 10 years was really good. Therefore, I am also entitled to condemn it here and now. I understand that here the Nickelback disciples upset and become wildly fluttering chickens when here who writes badly about Nickelback, who simply do not like. Because if I know that I do not like a band, then I do not buy my album, then draw about her.

But to this group, I am not - quite the contrary, I was once in the Nickelback sect, but then I still made it in time to phase! So, joking aside, I am well aware that I do not belong to the target group - or better not said. Probably come the many 5 star reviews from the audience - that is the 14-20 year olds. Probably I was already 11 years ago no longer quite the audience as "Silver Side Up" hit the shelves. But still I loved this album. And not because of "How You Remind Me" - Ok, ok, ok, because of this song I've anno-in those days bought the album, but also all other songs were bad about anything. And even today, I listen to the plate like and am really delighted with the quality of songwriting and by the great production of plate.

Well, now we come on to the main criticism of the new album: The songwriting and production! I realize that they have become partially harder (already the successor to "The Long Road" started this development) but harder does not mean necessarily bad. But just as it is. The love Chad has the guitar unfortunately choke forgotten melodies to write. I mean, the songs are partly written really bad - tunes that do not want to leave the ear canal in vain. So almost, because honestly have to say that "Lullaby" is really a top-Song, and the reason was why I after many years wanted to give a chance Nickelback. But that is unfortunately wasted. Because except "Trying Not To Love You" the rest is unfortunately only average goods - since no chorus hangs no bridge and no verse. In "Silver Side Up" saw things even very different. The songs are really terrific and have a half-life, where each cesium would be jealous (but only if cesium would also listen to music, what is scientifically not yet assigned).

And the second point of criticism is the production of plate - if you ever may so call the sound muddy. "Silver Side Up" sound-wise was a stunner, the production was so punchy, precise to hear the drums and the bass down low. And with the new album? A mushy first cabin, the instruments were mixed to form a slack and the whole thing could be a prime example of the folk high school course "How I produce mainstream sound monotony, so I verschrecke anyone and buy all my record" to serve. And exactly that is the point that I do not understand at Nickelback: If I anyway "Haudrauf-Hard Rock" do, which is anyway not played on the hit-transmitters (except the two single releases), why do I have the plate so produce no rough edges and smooth iron such that only more mud over remains. That does not fit together, and since it was better to classes with "Silver Side Up", I can only assume and assert that nickel Bach have so pressed that sound deliberately on the plate.

I hear a MARANTZ CD players and only with Denon headphones that were made exactly for this kind of music - and to avoid any misunderstanding. The headphones usually have a bass that you formatted the brain - but here ................ nothing, not even the 300, - Euro Höhrer can this plate elicit any finesse. And that is very sad. Because that means only one thing: Nickelback do not want the MP3 generation scare with good sound and take care a damn about the hi-fi generation.

Two Punke I give the plate, due to the above two songs and because I was really once a Nickelback fan - but unfortunately that is a long time ago. And even though it all the readers here is damn-matter - and probably Nickelback themselves - as long as they do so on I am no longer a kick in the sect!

Addendum: 25/02/2012

After 5 days of intense listening, I must confess sheepishly that I have done the plate partially wrong. And I'm not too bad to admit that. Apparently I looked at the plate "nice part" (in some works).
Meanwhile, I have really taken a liking to some songs that I really would not have thought so. But "This Means War" good for me currently so much that I am inclined to say that the song is certainly one of their best songs. A Killer blast!

Also "Bottoms up" and "Gotta get me some" make me inexplicably to grin. And "Holding on to Heaven" was to "Trying not to love you" to my favorite song of the plate. Really two grandiose songs!
Strangely, has "Lullaby" quite strong degraded, but may also be due to the constant airplay (the song can be heard currently 10x daily on the radio)

But please not too much of praise: As long as the love Mr. Kroeger so embarrassing pupertäre texts resigns as in "Midnight Queen", (which could be out of a horny 12-year-olds, and Mr. K. is - I believe - the 40 closer than 30) - as long as their records always have a bitter aftertaste!

But ok, we do not want to be - we want to be merciful today! The production is by the way not soooo bad as written above. You still blows me away though not from the proverbial socks, but now I'm feeling good reingehört ...................... and please do not tell anyone, but was so good the production of "Silver Side Up" then did not, I probably had different memories.

Be that as it may, after a week of constant music I can confidently assign the disk 3 1/2 stars. Although they come close in no respects at "Silver Side Up", but the difference is not too big.
Ahem ............. where I can get back in the sect please ???
