Beyond its unique approach, the purpose itself off the beaten track and hackneyed, no terrorist villain not pretty stalk, no American testosterone savior of mankind or deadly virus decimating the world's population. Here we follow the story of a kind of mundane, his questions on the turn to give his life before passing the point of no return, or his desire to get out of this infernal routine like a little death. The game features a real questioning of oneself and the concept of loyalty rarely (never?) And hardly affordable in video games. Maybe the game will not speak to everyone, but personally he will think me like few other and in a sense I just found this Vincent Brooks a little clueless. The aura a bit supernatural that develops wireless gaming was in my opinion not essential but the merit of offering some tasty purposes.
Regarding the gameplay, lenchaînement of dialogue scenes or moving and pure puzzle phases is very nice, all is very consistent, we feel the Japanese expertise in the attention to detail in these little touches made to the player. The game is packed with all the little things that surprise, that mark and make that one will still remember those times in 10 years. Catherine is one of those games that will age more slowly than others, the slap is not graphic, it is fun! And the latest news playful fun does not lapses!
But the story does reveal that reckless, this experience deserves! The game is deemed difficult and not completely usurped ... Not really. Far from being trivial the game never takes the player's hand and the challenge seems steep at first glance lever. Nevertheless, the scope for growth is great and spent time indispensable adaptation you'll quickly get your bearings. Finally, the game brings just enough challenge to raise the stress in our nocturnal ascents (The puzzles are like a kind of escalation). Players in need of full-bodied challenges will be pleased with the high difficulty levels. Personally I would advise to avoid the Easy mode that softens our advanced too.
The faults you really find is a limit capricious camera during some sequences (with the ambient pressure it can still annoy some), reversing the controls when going behind the wall. Personally I would have signed for a few more animated scenes. Finally dialogues multiple choice could make it even more attractive replayability. But honestly there's really nothing insurmountable.
In summary, Catherine is with games like Portal or Mirror's Edge one of my favorite of this generation. A cool breeze in this formatted daily. The game finished well is clean, offers a strong atmosphere, all the elements are extremely well connected forming a coherent whole. The character design and writing are tasty and so on ... Atlus shows us a great game do not need the latest graphics engine fashionable or follow the usual codes of a kind.
Catherine is left of these outstanding works that cross the roads of the players three or four times every ten years.
It would be a shame to miss such a title because of a priori unfounded!
However, and despite all its qualities, this app will appeal to everyone for sure.
