The Real Thing (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Many bands are called cult bands, but only a few are also in the actual meaning of the word. At least in my opinion, only the band is a cult band that is able to with their music and their appearance to collect a sworn, indestructible fanbase for themselves. Eben rock-hard followers of the band that they form a sort of "cult" and raise their albums into real "cult objects". With one of these "true cult objects" we are dealing here. Hardly any other band apart from Faith No More had in the nineties such a stubbornly enduring enthusiastic Fanmasse behind. Already early albums such as "Introduce Yourself" could in Underground mighty stir up dust, but it was only with the introduction of front dervish Mike Patton Faith No More were transformed into the most uncomfortable durchgeknallteste, and taken musically strictly unkommerziellste Anarcho - crossover band that saw the world so far would have. The music on "The Real Thing" goes through stages of pop crossover anthems ("From Out Of Nowhere", "Falling To Pieces") over classic metal deposits ("Surprise You're Dead!" And the divine Black Sabbath - Remake "War Pigs" ) to completely wacky musical showpiece ("Epic", "Woodpecker From Mars", "Edge Of The World"). Actually a very bulky mixture that would not have any offers on the front ranks of the charts, but the American youth turned totally, helped the band and the album to not less than three hit singles, and also in Germany began the Faith No More - hysteria that in this country, however, only able to win so right ride on the next album, "Angel Dust". The dry sound that clever ideas and the indescribably beautiful "we-play-what-we-want" - impression "The Real Thing" leaves today, but was unfortunately reproduced from the band never again in this transparency and credibility (also not on "Angel Dust"). Then, when even the longtime guitarist Jim Martin, which also represented also a striking optical feature of the band due to musical disagreements got out, it was at least musically so slowly downhill. Although also had later Faith No More - albums like "King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime" and "Album Of The Year" their successful moments, but remained "The Real Thing" absolutely unmatched. Eventually pulled the band itself and its consequences disbanded. Since then, almost every musician goes its respective solo career after (especially noticeable while the absolutely chaotic, but very musical sound cacophony - orgies of Mike Patton's band Mr. Bungle). Drummer Mike Bordin is for several years on a regular basis in the field almost every musical performance of Heavy Metal - listen to grandpa Ozzy Osbourne and been seen. "The Real Thing" is ultimately an essential must for any clever CD - collection (not only in the metal area).
