Since Katy B's first album, I'm a big fan of their dubsteppigen, unusual music and its extraordinary voice. With "5am" and "What Love Is mad of" (it has tragically failed on the album), they began to promote their upcoming album. Both tracks like extremely well and looking forward to the new album I grew with each listen. But now was published as "crying for no reason", just shut me down the jaw. After a, for me personally, musically speaking, thread 2013 in the mainly Poplangweilerinnen like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have dominated in the public soundscape and really good music was only made by lesser known artists, I am even more pleased that 2014 already very good start. Great Songs of WhoMadeWho, The Presets, and Mackintosh Braun have already been published. But Katy B's new single beats them all.
Played the song for the first time in their live performance in the Graham Norton Show seen and could not believe what the lady with trumped up for a pop gem there. The song is almost a type of up-beat ballad carried by charismatic drums, piano, synths and everything else needed to create a perfect song. Production is, as her singing. unbelievably perfect and remains surprisingly playful, so that the drama of the really good text can unfold bit by bit until the end.
Maybe it's a bit strange, so much to write a song. But for me, this song is one of the largest, strongest and most wonderful Popmomenten the last 14 years.
6 out of 5 stars. Fantastic.
