I particularly liked the following features:
- When switched off this timer consumes nothing even virtually.
- When switched on it is only about 0.2 Watt
- And in the off state has as a bonus it were still a passable lightning protection, not perfect, but at least with a protective effect in the kilovolt range, since the network separation is effected by a two-pole relays.
Since the switch has been realized with a relay, you can see the socket strain also neat. Even a washing machine is connected (provided that the technical specifications are also withstand a long-term test, what it looks like but).
If one expects that every watt burden the household budget with 2 Euros in continuous operation per year, and a typical home audio / video / SAT receiver / TV set of devices in standby before 20 - 50 watts (ie up to 100 per year ) can consume!, so it becomes immediately clear that pay for the cost of this timer ', depending on the savings potential' fast.
I think a very good idea, to which I have been waiting for, and surprisingly compact, portable and energy-saving function resolved. Now I hope that the Timer continuous operation is equally brilliant. First of 5 stars.
Addendum of 01/13/2013: relays to disconnect only one pole, so there is no truly relevant additional lightning protection. But that's also not a contractual description.
On a positive note, however, that the two devices used still work perfectly, despite decent load. Obviously therefore not quite cheaper electronics trash. I hope it stays that way.
