1) In the labyrinth lost: After Get a magnifying glass I could make out on the back of the credit card that I should call the "Web site listed below" - that is my.garmin.com. There I searched and searched and clicked and clicked and so on but no field was found. After all, I was the "Enable gift card" for find. Gift has given me but no, Garmin certainly not.
2) In the Time Warp caught: After entering the code to install the "Communicator Plugin" was imperative. Then you should restart Firefox. Then you should install the plugin again, etc., etc.
It reminded me very much of the movie "Groundhog Day", especially as still did not seem to be an end loading.
To appease my slowly rising anger, I clicked on Cancel. This proved to be correct. From the somewhat confused Garmin Guide now was not quite clear how it should go on. About Maps I found the right way, had to once again activate the code and wanted to finally fall into the download.
3) No more bets: My Navi was recognized, but after the download started, I received after 30 seconds, the message "An HTTP 500 error has occured". Further experiments also led to this result.
Reading the FAQ, etc. also did not result in further me, except that I found out that this was only for Navi 4G cards or less suitable. I removed the selling 8GB card, but that did not help, nor another USB cable.
Luckily I bought for Christmas a new PC with Windows 7 (the other has XP). So a new attempt. The Communicator clipped went well according to the above experience. But suddenly the installation of Express has been requested, even though my navigator had already been recognized.
In the meantime, I had already discovered on the map to finish off the site with active card, but ultimately also repeatedly called for the installation of Express. I felt like in a 2nd time warp.
As I got out there, I do not remember. But the attempted download again ended with the unknown error (but about standing with HTTP 500).
To risk not nervous breakdown I have it then canceled yesterday, especially the help line of Garmin on Saturday can not be reached.
There is certainly some can understand here that I repeatedly increasing stupid after this experience - stupid - Garmin went through my head. In 20 years WWW I've done lots of updates, but at such a disaster, I can not remember.
Today I then tried the laptop of my wife. It went through my head at how easy it could be, if you would do it only with Garmin Express, with the yes and the firmware update went well.
What can I say: While me yesterday Express led to the sale of the update again, today was the update available for download. It even works (approx. 2 hours with a line 16000).
After yesterday carried a warning that the internal memory is not enough (the inserted card is not recognized), today over 3GB of the update was copied to me the 8 GB card. The card size is after all.
It all seems to be working, so I give 2 instead of a star.
