First a cubit long Steam software downloads, not Weil's a big download, but because Steam easy lame (300 KB / s with possible 1.3 MB / s). Then installation error three times: 3 Additional software packages need to reinstalled Steam leaves a but unclear where.
2. Game Start:
Also having regard to the predecessor is happening remains initially unclear storyline not recognizable.
On the Start island (= tutorial area) all seemed fake.
It is offered Combat Training, whose only result is that you will be blown away by what. A nonsense
3. Look & Feel / atmosphere
The pirate genre is something new and like no ifs and buts.
That the making of large exposed motion capture is a handle in the toilet: The facial expression is still wooden (you already knew from Risen 1 and the Gothic series) and the gesture is unrelated to the spoken - somehow reminds me of the figures of the Augsburg Puppet Theatre. The gross expression is still tolerable (if you times forgets the high standards of PB in itself), but the gesture just annoying.
The atmosphere (always been a strength of the PB-Games) has decreased compared to its predecessor. Everything seems a bit sterile and especially empty. 2-3 soldiers in the first Inquisition camp (except the quest NPC's) are just the same thin pirate camp. In the few NPC conversations there, unlike previous PB-games also nothing to smile.
One can steal almost with impunity. I got the pulled through in one case even an example: A Warehouse cleared, then just blew the storekeeper and the 2-3 to coming guards, done no lasting consequences as in previous PB-games.
4 fights
Initially just bock difficult: no human opponents in the starting area and on the first island is defeat. Although Block protects temporarily, but once you attack, you concede far more than they divide. As the game progresses it gets it always easier for me to just.
The warthogs and other animals remember initially very similar to the wild boar from Gothic 3: difficult to defeat, especially if more than one attack. The built at Jaguar attack QTE's just glitch.
5. Handling
The Maussensivität is the first shock after game start: for rotations much too sensitive. I have a G700 and can OnTheFly adjust the sensitivity. Made with the result that I have to draw on all other movements the mouse once across übern desk now.
6. Story
Wrong! That was never the strength of PB, but this time tuts just hurt. This hunt for the evil mermaid is simply too thin as a thread. The thus constructed following the previous acts contrived and implausible. The one (!) Unexpected twist in the end does not break out the weak story. Both camps, which the player can join the offer, Quest technically only 08/15-fare for other RPG villeicht not sufficient for PB!
7. Conclusion
Risen 2 is not a bad game, but it's just not a good average. But above all, is hardly the PB-fragrance brand identify. To my mind PB is ill advised, if they want to swim in the main stream. But they are too small. People, but remains in the typical PB niche and delights us again with the typical rough PB style. This has nothing to do with nostalgia (I find, for example, the new pirate genre and also innovations such as firearms good), but only with Cobbler, stick to your last!
