1) The device is not accessible by a cable, wireless only, even for firmware update (while on the Netgear website who provides general guidance for all its devices, it is specified that it should never make upd by wifi ...... this causes confusion for the 2000RPT who break this rule and that is specified anywhere in the documentation). 4 RJ45 outputs provide power only in the wired network connected devices (Internet TV, BR player, or computer), but never allow to enter the repeater to reach the manager settings.
2) For the upd firmware, the device must be fully operational in wifi beforehand, otherwise no access to extended service menu (specified anywhere in any doc). However versions recently delivered by Amazon are already latest firmware 1.10.12 available at Netgear.
3) The device must be configured prior to the attempt to set preferably internal DHCP service by a hidden but accessible to unpack command without turning the camera wifi repeater services [...]
4) Encryption in the box must be of type WPA2-PSK (AES) AES-especially not TKIP, otherwise risk of installation failure rate or only G and not N.
5) If compliance with these provisions, easy with Orange Livebox (provided simultaneous access by the network to the box settings, we must say that the Orange box for that interface is the top), but more difficult with Freebox V6, go set the box on both the account Free on-site [...] under my account and direct network access [...] (what Free does not necessarily said, we believe that All controls are accessible through the Internet account ....).
6) It is better to box, computer and repeater in the same room for the commissioning and looking after the location of the repeater in the apartment.
7) The name of the repeater on the network can be left in a pinch at the initiative of self control (liveboxxxx_ext), but not the encryption key that must necessarily be different from the original box if you use the camera a collective WIFI circuit in a condominium or hotel so that other unauthorized persons connect to your Netgear.
8) The hotline Netgear (overtaxed) has nice people, but as is often the case, the problem is not resolved on .... you must register the device and sends you a mail procedure, but standard and very explicit (for firmware upd is not said that the repeater must be fully operational and are looking desperately maintenance button in the primary installation software. Sounds logical indeed update before installing all, especially if this firmware is supposed to solve some connection problems ....). And there is the deficiency of this unit, NO USE technically developed with the details above, only a fast road but which in my opinion should not run often, unless by chance the box client is already configured as stated above and the fixed port available without leaving the 2000RPT internal DHCP enabled ..... Netgear gives the impression to the client that just plug as a toaster and it works automatically . IT remains a complex area, only the marketing would have us believe the opposite to sell, resulting in disillusionment ....
9) Once underway efficient the unit and the price. Delivery Service Amazon top as usual of course.
