The Sony SEL-24240 is a tall order and terms of weight emotionally with the Sony SEL 4 / 70-200 comparable (zoomed to 240mm in length with this also comparable). However, as the zoom range covered is significantly larger I think that is bearable and ok especially as the additional "carry around" the SEL2470Z one saves.
Unlike the SEL 4 / 70-200 (fixed length) varies the length of SEL-24240 of about 135 mm (24mm focal length) to 205mm (240mm focal length). During fast retraction 240 -> 24mm is a sharp breeze from the lens to feel out during the extension must therefore air can be sucked which raises the question of what impact ubiquitous dust particles have long-term operation with regard to contamination of the lens (see also the Review on digitalkamera.de).
