Very surprise that we do study this fourth title. Rather keen on reading, I had never read for my part Les Miserables (just studied selected pieces, and looking back, I understand why my teachers did not inflict my full reading). I am only the fifth chapter and I can already say with certainty that this book is far too complicated for students 4th (when my daughter is a very good student). Many vocabulary words are unknown to me (while my daughter, I can not imagine). Some examples: "The exordium was abruptly" (p11), "the eclogue took place" (p30), "a protest" (p41). In addition, Victor Hugo refers to other works that are completely unknown to me: Always p41 this excerpt: "It was the time when the ancient classical romance which, after Clelia, was only Lodoiska, always noble, but more and more vulgar, the soul fire to the doors of Paris and even ravaging the suburbs to some. " I had reading about Clélie and Lodoiska ... In short, already much research to only 5 chapters !!! So I make a "preparatory" reading to my daughter with preparing a short glossary. Without this, it is to the disgust of literature. Very disappointed in this edition. The 4th Uncover. says "This collection aims to make accessible to young readers of great literary works" ... For accessibility, we can forget !!! I noticed also that sometimes the pieces removed the original text make comprehension more difficult. Example where p23 (called a minor chandelier I have not found anywhere on this explanation word .... except in the full version of the work where Victor Hugo details in the next paragraph what it is, while in this abridged edition, the paragraph is deleted which hinders understanding.
