But then, this model HD7817, under the excuse of a homecoming, betrays a worrying drop in quality compared to its predecessors. And the argument "historical model cheap" does not seem really worthwhile.
Some defects among others:
- The spout is not adjustable in height, yet it is quite unsuitable for the regular size mug of use (am I the only one drinking from a mug in France?).
- The tray on which the cups arise is now plastic. Very light and thin, he slips and dislocates the slightest tremor. It is also much narrower and poses enormous problems when you have to find a container suitable for descaling process ...
- In fact, there is no indicator scaling indicator! So you should note the dates on which you perform this maintenance required. Especially as the operating instructions now shows that we must carry out "quarterly cleanings" (instead of monthly so far). Bizarre ...
- The upper block, you must switch to enter your pod, is no longer with brake. In short: if you do not push all the way back, you fall on your fingers, while previous models allowed to simply lift it without fear of seeing him back down to your innocent mimine.
- The tray-pod receptacle is only "curved" and not "pressed". Result, you have literally stuck your pod by closing the clamshell. Another annoyance related to this change: the pod much adheres to the plate ... and it takes off the hand to throw it in the trash. (Before, it was enough to return the tray receptacle above the trash). You will laugh less when you introduce a new pod, while the former remained glued to the top panel.
- The curvature of the central block has been slightly increased, which slightly increases as the area occupied by the coffee. However, the tank capacity is only 0,70l.
You tell me that if I'm not happy, I only have to choose a top model ... and therefore more expensive.
And you would be right!
But what bothers me deeply nevertheless, is to realize that this economic model (all plastic), poorly designed by Philips engineers also seems much more fragile than the old ones. It is also not practical to use and it is not at all clear that the economy (not huge) you realize the purchase will not be outweighed by the disadvantages suffered by you on the medium and long term.
In short: do not like me. If you want a coffee machine, plan to pay more.
And perhaps, too, to look carefully the offers of the competition.
As for the strange marketing concept "vintage nostalgia" for a pure plastic machine designed there a few years ... it leaves me speechless.
