I actually had again injected me on Samsung, I was very pleased with the 40Zöller, with regard to the image quality and menu navigation. On the wish list was a Samsung UE55H6270 or H6470. Alternatively still, the LG models 55LB650V and also very affordable 5 Series came into question. However, I had here because of only 100Hz (50Hz natively) refresh rate concerns because of possible stuttering in fast sequences. In addition, I read again and again that the IPS panel of LG have poorer black level, which is to act rather gray.
I had then in a MM the opportunity to compare the image quality between Samsung and LG. At two different locations each a Samsung UE50H6470 standing right next to one an LG 50LB650V and at the other place next to a LB620V.
I can only say that the comparison was very disappointing !!
With HD channels no real difference was as expected almost to recognize both manufacturers with brilliant images, only the 620V weakened in comparing two bit when contrast / dynamic. But at store lighting that is well known, quite relative.
Then the direct comparison with SD channels.
Both LG models provided here clearly !!! sharper and more graphic images than the Samsung. I thought at first, but that it would be up to the image settings of Samsung any attempt of optimizing did not nearly as good representation of how the two LG.
Since we receive all the private channels only in SD quality at home, the decision in favor of LG had by now fallen. Ultimately, it was then the 55LB580V (3D I do not need) for 550 euros, the cheapest at this time 55Zöller, despite concerns about the refresh rate.
What can I say, I have no regrets.
+ Elegant appearance, the aluminum frame looks very valuable, and it all feels very valuable to
+ Excellent image quality as expected in HD and especially at SD channels !!, with a good signal (depending on broadcast) one misses HD hardly and that's saying something
+ No dead pixels, uniform illumination, no bright corners, etc.
+ IPS typically very good viewing angles
+ The black level is in my opinion more than good, even in a darkened room and I honestly do not know what there talking some reviewers. The black level is here at least as good as the Samsung 6 Series, such we are in the company, so I can say this. Even blacker when absolutely dark room may any top models with local dimming, which I however do not want to pay
+ 100Hz quite sufficient, so far I could find no annoying judder or blur caused by fast sequences, I would still higher numbered Hertz numerals designate more than a publicity stunt, perhaps more interesting for gamers
+ The menu is good and fast, amazingly, much faster than the 6 LG series, even better here but Samsung
View + connection to laptop, for example, for pictures, very good, here pay attention to the aspect ratio setting just scan so nowhere lost something from the edge goes
+ PVR function on an external hard drive is fine, only you can not subsequently rename the recordings
+ Wireless connectivity perfectly, YouTube videos perfectly, other apps I have not yet tested
Negatives do not fall much below:
-The frequently mentioned channel search or sort, but if you follow the advice in the search, sorting is actually very easy, hence no real problem here.
-The above already mentioned non-existent ability to rename recordings later, so you should program the recording via the program guide, then the correct name of the program is set automatically
-The proprietary file format for recording, they can not be used for example to burn to DVD on your PC, I personally miss the not
If anyone is interested, here, in my view, the optimal image adjustment parameters. Since I have a tendency towards perfectionism, the tinkering has also taken a while until I was satisfied. Basically, the setting is anyway quite a matter of taste:
Energy Saving: Off
Picture Mode: Eco
Lighting: 73
Contrast: 80
Brightness: 41
Sharpness: 25
Color: 63
Tint: R3
Color Temp .: W35
Format: Just Scan
Advanced control:
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Dynamic Color: Off
Color gamut: wide
Super Resolution: Medium
Gamma: Medium
Image Option:
Noise Reduction: Medium
MPEG NR: Off
Motion Eye Care: From
True Motion: From
All in all for the price an absolute bargain on which one can hardly over when you can not spend too much money or wants and still a major product would call his own. For those who like me often watch SD channels, there are in the low to mid-price range, in my view really no alternative to LG. The top models of Samsung are in SD-representation as well as or even better, but are also more expensive by a multiple.
