The scene of the duel that settles it is frankly a tightrope. It is well written enough for satisfaction, but we are at the limit of blah ...
And if we reflected about it, this does not look far on the conceptual level.
Although Scalzi has undeniable qualities, I think it is one of those authors that make the opportunistic kind down and sawing the branch on which they sit.
