The Nikkor 40mm macro is a really good choice for people with moderate budget, yet quite high expectations. It is suitable for both Super macro (see attached images) as well as very good for portraits. Where you have to answer it very close partially. This is not ideal for both portraits as well as eg insects because of the flight distance. To buy all in all but a Topobjektiv what it is worth when you know what. Personally, I send it back and attack on the Tamron 90mm back, because the focal length asy is much higher and thus better be photographed & Co. insects. But let everyone decide for themselves.
