Billed as a bestseller in several countries, I really wanted to read this book at all costs before discovering the film version by master David Fincher. That's what made me buy the first book. Unfortunately, the end has not lived up to my expectations. There was much more to do to cloturer this story. I confess to being was speechless before the final denouement, and I found the ridiculous conclusion. What really leaves a bitter final note. Too bad.
However, I suggest you go see the movie Gone Girl, which is really true to the book. The end is also slightly different. Well done film. The actors are very good there (including Ben Affleck), despite a few shortcuts that I can quote here, unless spoiler.
