Papas new favorite

After my system change to Canon and the handle to the 7D was back to the subject lens purchase. One of my favorite lenses of Pentax bayonet was the DA55 * 1.4. Especially with portraits the 55er came with me to use. Unfortunately, Canon has only a 50 in the range. Although in several light intensities, ie 1.2, 1.4 and 1.8. But "only" a 50. The 1.4 I have re-purchased and replaced immediately. It was me not so. The 85er was recommended to me repeatedly. Now I've ordered it here and made the first pictures.

The EF 85 / 1.8 is a classic in the Canon program. Felt built millennia and analog time the classic portrait lens. The age looks amn at him. Completely unspectacular it comes out of the package. Black, simple and thoroughly honest processed. It is relatively heavy, despite plastic housing and provides a solid feel. The bayonet fits like a one. The focus ring turns tired, but not too heavy. The AF can be set to "manual" switchable. The USM funkrioniert very quiet and precise. Even in bad light hits the 7D with the 85er the Fokuspukt quickly and reliably.
Unfortunately, and because I have to get used to before, no lens hood is included in delivery, which really annoys me. It is recommended that an alternative model of TFE, which is just up clicks and does not have to be turned by bayonet available here. In addition, the lens hood from the accessory shelf is a few cheaper as the original part. I use it on my '85.

My '85 I really enjoy. Despite the length, I like to put it as a portrait lens. It blends well with the 7D and is great fun. The light intensity is sufficient with 1.8 and also creates good opportunities the motive indemnify. The 85er is a very "versatile" fixed focal length, which is both the portrait, as well as for various other areas is (the use in sport table tennis, as described here, I will try).
