Let's call the first the good qualities of this remake: the camera work and the locations are excellent, even the soundtrack can be heard. Sometimes, the movie also, to produce a certain amount of tension ("Charade" connoisseurs know of course from the outset Opinion). The acting performances the thing already looks different: Mark Wahlberg and Thandie Newton are totally miscast. Only Tim Robbins is convincing. Demme directed power is not what it used to be. One looks in vain for a joke, whistle and charm. Some scenes are very fond of and advised unimaginative, especially the showdown leaves to be desired. Too bad, with a slightly different cast (and perhaps another director?) Could be "The Truth About Charlie" a great remake. Conclusion: a passable, ansehbarer thriller, but remains hands down behind the original.
