At the airport I was the nice barware Ryanair asked my bag in one of the if-it-fits-take-it-on-board - to put boxes. My laptop was in the envelope in the backpack. The casing was pushed through the backpack and I had two small dents in the laptop. For my old laptop I had a shell of "Zeroshock III" and there was something never happened.
I prefer the envelope hereby two stars from as it can protect the laptop against scratches only.
