This book is for people who are starting from scratch with a sewing machine. It is very comprehensive and clearly explained. Each step is photographed, so no problem to understand the vocabulary used. In addition, the images are large and the authors considered using son of bright colors that are easy to recognize in the pictures. This is a more compared to other books here, no need magnifying glass to see what is done! The step are clear, the book offers 50 lessons, practiced by achieving 15 models (simple and very nice incidentally). Examples of lessons: preparing the book, sew a running stitch, overcast and pinking, make a zigzag stitch, make a tie, sew shirring, buttonhole stitch, sewing tweezers, hemming, make and sew bias, sew a croquet , ask the curtain tape, entoiler, quilting, etc. The models include the realization of a curtain, cushions (with piping, with applied), a simple patchwork plaid, a backstage bag, a reversible baby kimono (whose boss is provided with the book), etc. For those who want to get a better idea: the lesson on kimono is available free on the site editions marie claire. This is what made me decide to acquire this magnificent book, which is perfect for beginners in sewing when you have not the chance to learn with someone! But beware, this is a book to learn sewing machine: there is no explanation on what to do by hand (but for that, many other books offer explanations, as well as Many bloggers!).
