Hello There,

I have the wheels combined with the Schwalbe Racing Ralph (EVO, tubeless ready) in 2:25 for a few days. I have the tire tubeless mounted and so far they run properly without losing air. A completely new (better) ride. I did not expect such a difference.

SITUATION

At the beginning, I drove a lot of forest highways with some very schottigen, sandy and soft soil. Since the Nobby Nic was very good and I was able to safely through forest soils heat up over it. Even more difficult trails went quite well. Unfortunately, I had a stick between the spokes and the back after successful repair still a runout and rear rim I have never again get properly "round".

NEW CLAIMS

Over time, my ride was limited to 70% road 30% forest motorways and easy trails. I wanted to be more quickly, rather than technically challenging ride -> Incorrect impellers. Together with the non-circular rear running it was time for something new!

- Fast Tires, tubeless (puncture resistance and good running characteristics)
- Tubeless wheels up to 200 Euro

So the Shimano MT55 or MT66 the wheels offered. A price difference of about 55 euros, with almost same quality standard. The only difference, the MT66 are tubeless rims. A wheel hub type or XT SLX is not necessary for my needs.

NEW SETUP CONVINCED

I opted for the compromise between racing tires and difficult terrain. Racing Ralph with 2:25 Width these tires go to 26 "more toward very easy terrain :-)
The MT66 has an internal rim width of 19mm and is sufficient for the new claim. For my old Nobby Nics in 2:35 would be 24mm have been the better choice.
On my home round (40km, 70% road 30% forest highway) I beat my record by a whopping 2.5 km / h average speed after the first exit !!! Just so unconsciously !!!
You can tell a huge difference. The wheel and tire combo drives really well and it's really fast! I have a weight saving of 700 grams measured and that makes itself noticeable when cruising: approx 2-3km / h faster at the same effort. Coupled with the rapid Racing Ralphs, in curves hardly loss of speed. The wheels are also located in fast corners bombproof and not bend, at least I did not notice anything.

CONCLUSION

After three exits and a total of ~ 120 km I can say that the tires go very well on asphalt at about 2.7 bar. If you are traveling more in easy terrain, you should ~ 2 bar range. These are my values ​​and everyone must try for yourself and especially the set pressure values ​​not lower and not exceed !!!

INSTALLATION

I have first the Racing Ralph pulled onto the rim. The tire must "jump on" on the inner side wall of the rim. This creates one only if you have a very voluminous air pump. For this you turn the valve to allow more air to flow through, and pumped as a savage away without hesitation. For me it did not work out. The tire read this out too much air and I did not make it enough air nachzuliefern so by the generated pressure the tire can jump. One reason is that the rim in the middle of small bumps on the points of the spokes has, so that the wheel can not reared seal 100% justified. I think higher rims are a flat inner surface where it then who will come off with the air pump.

So off to the bike shop that have a compressor (gas station is also, with an adapter of Scalaverand on car valve, 3 euros)

With the compressor it worked, much air can clean up the tire starts to press on the inner side wall and a successful installation with some loud "plop, plop ... plop" acknowledged noises. Do check whether the tire is properly seated.

Thereafter, the tire was inflated for about 4 hours and lost about 0.25 bar per hour. So DocBlue sealing milk (60ml) was charged via the open valve and closed valve and inflated. At no point in sealing milk came out! Very good! Now the inflated tire with the filled sealing milk regularly rotated and shaken so that the seal milk from the inside everything evenly wetted. This process I have performed twice and the tire was tight until today.

The first exit with great caution performed! Not exactly planks it going!
