Responding to a need for portability and efficiency for scanning orders in my patients, I purchased this little gem called "Brother DS620"!
I directly used on a tablet PC "ASUS T100 Transformer", another little gem of technology and the free software Vital'In which is a new generation nurse agenda specifically optimized for the touch screen of the T100 and this type of scanner .
Result: I earn an hour a day with this "portable trio", whereas before I used another portable scanner had to be done manually scroll on prescriptions, with a poor outcome (do not shoot straight / waves, often forced me to try twice) and time consuming manipulations ... unloading the memory of the evening scanner on my PC by USB cable, image editing, file transfer patient records from my old transmission software by a multitude of clicks ...
The advantages of this Brother DS620:
- Very good relationship between resolution / w scanning and high speed scanning
- Exudes quality manufacturing / finishing
- Pleasant to use with automatic pinch the inserted sheet
- Compact, lightweight and aesthetics
- No charger or batteries needed changing every x weeks grrr ...
- Scans right! (No waves like scanners to manually move on the sheet)
- TWAIN and WIA drivers for direct scanning to a third party software
- With the IRIS Can Express (which is another choice possible), it is the least expensive portable scanners with automatic scrolling and WIA-TWAIN drivers.
The cons:
- No stand-alone mode without PC: thus for mobile use, you have to follow a tablet PC for example, and the connecting micro USB cable.
- More expensive than hand-held scanners to manual movement (as Vanstore Skypix I put in the garbage), but practicality and outcome of incommensurate scanning ...
- If I find another (reliability over the long term I do not know yet, for example), I will complete this review!
