Perfect steering wheel

I bought the steering wheel for the forthcoming Gran Turismo 5.
After a long search, I am stuck with this barrel organ and have decided.
It is the first time that I go to a steering wheel, but let's start at the beginning:

Packing:
The packaging is small, stable, easy to handle and performed with a comfortable plastic handle. When the package arrived, I thought I had forgotten to order a part, since the box appeared so small.
Inside there is intelligent verpackete hardware. For the environment is omitted entirely on polystyrene containing packaging and instead used cardboard. Only the film bag in which the components are packed belong in the yellow bin.

Content:
In the box you will find the steering wheel, the pedals, a power supply unit (packed separately) and a driver CD for connection to the PC. Moreover, div. Schriftkram (Warranty, etc.) in flyer size. A printed manual is not available. Also on the driver CD is no such - at least not obvious.

Structure:
The Driving Force GT should be mounted on a stable surface (I had it first bolted to a small plastic balcony table, had I but with raised when steering and depend on the steering wheel). To this end, 2 fixing screws on the right and left of the steering column can be used. The fastening hooks on the bottom can be additionally stops adapted to the thickness of the panel in addition with two clipping (which are fitted as standard).
The usual connection procedure revealed clutter: A 3m long (or short, how it takes) USB cable for connecting to the PS3, a power cord with AC / DC plug to the force feedback to bring the steering wheel (optional, for those who prefer driving without FF, it can also leave out. Bring however clearly less fun and precision) and a connecting cable between the steering wheel and pedals.

Functions and working methods:
I tested the steering wheel so far (6 days) with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Need for Speed ​​- Shift.
In both games the wheel convinced after an acclimatization period. The force feedback is preset directly at the highest level at GT5P. I've turned down for me personally at level 7 (10). Because at the same time decreases the steering resistance, in my opinion, should not go below level 5 you. Unlike NFS Shift the steering wheel in GT5P can not restrict its 900 ° action radius (or I have not yet found the function;)). But what would be desirable in some routes.
The steering wheel offers excellent grip the rubber. What is somehow visually not well managed, is the gear knob with plastic surface as an injection molding in mass production. Here would also be a rubber coating, alone due to the system of equality, have been desirable.
A special gimmick is the special function button with red knob, which allows a fast switchover of some driving functions such as traction control, braking, etc. relocation. Annoying is the steering wheel that can be carried out this button and the selection of the functions only on a long straight, since it is located relatively unfavorable and requires that both hands must be taken or vice grips the steering wheel alternately. The same applies also for the rest the Select button which is responsible among other things for the resetting of the vehicle in GT5P.
However, all other controls are positioned properly and logically.
The force feedback takes hard into the steering performance and gives a very good impression of Realismusses. Although it is partially a little exaggerated, but that's what makes inter alia the fun factor from! The comparisons of the previous speakers and includes a gym are in fact, depending on the choice of route, not overdone.
The sequential shift knob can be easily reached and specifies the courses an easy and clean. The confirmation click the built-in electric button looks a little cheap and evaluates these further. All in all it is very delicate and susceptible to breakage.
The horn is still no function for the two tested games! But also not really interested.
The pedals must be said that these are well positioned and with my driving style (right foot accelerator and brake, as in the original) and easily reached. Sometimes I wish a slightly more rigid accelerator. But this is not tragic.
But what -leider- leads to a small devaluation, is the slip resistance of the pedals. This is in fact hardly any. At least not on my laminate floor. I have therefore stuck to the first driving tests additional foam rubber strip on the bottom because the slipping of the unit is very annoying during a race. With this solution, it works beautifully. The fold-out carpet claw has not been tested by me, because there is no carpet in my apartment.
Pity is that the Playstation 3 no separate wheel support for settings in the menu offers, as it would on a PC with the driver of the case. Since this, however, the Driving Force GT nothing can, this point does not flow well into the Score!

I am currently still trying to link with the steering wheel on the old Pad-lap times. It is after all a matter of practice and habituation, but Gran Turismo 5 can come !!

The conclusion is the Driving Force GT very good: This steering wheel I do not want to miss. The build quality is top notch (except for the pedals instincts consolidate) the edges of the plastic pieces were burred clean as you would expect from Logitech. The force feedback teaches one the fear hill, gravel, curbs and bumps. The Driving Force GT I can every player who wants to have a little more realism when playing, only recommend. Who's not used (like me) who must reckon with some laps for exercise before it can go a distance to clean the usual difficulty. This realism is further influenced.
