It does what it promises. Threads it the HDMI signal incl. Sound and outputs this at the same time from the TosLink. Without noticeable time delay in perfect digital quality. Installation: Connected turned on, go! So you can not expect more! Have I bought the box, because I had with XBMC with the Raspberry Pi problems, the AVR receiver to be connected via HDMI. Reason: The Raspi has turned to each end of a song of the Audioengine what the receiver has recognized and has the input in turn switched off. As soon as the next track is started, it took just around the famous split second until the receiver has recognized that. And it's easy to hear no music enjoyment when each song is cut off early. So the HDMI cable from Raspi connected to the TV. Lo and behold, the Toslink output sends the stream without interruption. But I wanted the TV did not always turned to listen to music. So I bought the Ligawo, in the absolutely confident assumption that my problem is resolved. But it was not there. The Ligawo takes it with the through loops so well that he also breaks the stream after each song (it is, after all, from Raspi).
So went perforce to the analog output of Ligawo, which is significantly better than the the Raspberry Pi.
Well, a few weeks later XBMC is officially came with version 13 Gotham out. And has corrected the problem internally. Turning the Audio Engine can now adjust => My problem was eliminated, the Ligawo has become superfluous! The Raspi now works as planned via HDMI directly to the AVR.
Conclusion: Those without receiver with HDMI input, has to get to the Ligawo a super solution to sound on the system. The sound is tiptop, both TosLink as analog. Full marks, because the box does everything perfectly (even if it was not the desired in my case)
Now and again the question arises, what sound format is actually spent on Ligawo: HDMI threads it the signal 1: 1 by. So incl. 5.1 sound. On TosLink there in this version only stereo, no matter what audio format is present at the input.
