I own the Nokia 808 now for a month, and of course this unit has strengths and weaknesses that fall to varying degrees depending on the claim, habit and needs of the buyer significant. I myself never had an Android device running iOS and am only on my iPod touch familiar.
Nokia has put in the design of the 808 other priorities than has been the case with other devices in this price range and will be able to comment positively or negatively depending on the use of smartphones. Therefore MMN stir the still very different test results and reports. I give the device smooth 5 star, but I can also understand people who say that they can not do anything with a 808 because it bsp. is too heavy, or does not provide enough apps. The SGS3 may also be a very good smartphone, but would get from me only 2 stars, because I need a phone that fits in your pocket, and the Samsung can not meet this criterion. (Of course, I give this product is no such review because it's obviously not for people like me conceived)
The Nokia 808 is the result of a serious attempt to produce a device that combines a full-fledged digital camera and a full-fledged smartphone into a device. While a mobile phone with photo function is not exactly new, but can be made from this endeavor the development effort and the concessions in the design and sales price be described as innovative approach. Although it should be clear in fact that such a device neither the Smartphone nor the compact camera-Elite will exceed, reflected the 808 awarded in two areas. The price is absolutely justified if we consider that the Nokia 808 delivers similar results as individual smart phones and cameras in this price range (price of the device in December 2012: 399).
I think the 808 is an excellent mobile phone, but only because I have and therefore ordered abglich to my needs with the offers on the market this smartphone.
If you attach great importance to excellent image and video results, want a one-handed operation, require a lot of space and need a sophisticated navigation software and in return are not a person who always needs the very latest app and with the weight, thickness, and certainly lower Coolness can live factor, they will be determined very happy with the 808. Symbian is a stable and intuitive and power-saving system, but the number of applications on (in a broad sense) is limited the "bare minimum".
The device has in my opinion no "knockout quirks" (such bsp. The processing and hard software error of the HTC One S) is concerned, it is a real omnivore what file formats and is pleasantly fast on the road, and the display comes despite the low resolution subjectively over very well. However, that has 808 people for which display size, Ecosystem, processor performance and benchmarks are important far less to offer than a flagship of Samsung, HTC or Apple.
And yes, the browser is not the great strength of 808. This is after several weeks of use, my only gripe. While the Opera Mobile browser makes a lot better, but surf on the 808 is in a slightly better level than the iPhone 3GS or Samsung Galaxy S and therefore simply not up to date. Another initial criticism of very high SAR value (value of the radiation potential), but I'm after personal examination of the subject radiation had come to the conclusion that the actual radiation levels of 808 certainly win no health price, on average (about 0.4-0.5) but is not critical and has a lower value than many other smartphones (including iPhone 4S -. Connect provides differentiated tests). The reception is for super.
After my subjective perception Nokia seems to have been the only group in the last 18 months, which has seriously given thought to improved camera technology. The great strength of the camera is next to sensor, optics, etc. also easily the strong Xenon flash. When I look through my gallery, I have to say to my astonishment, that nearly half of the images have immensely benefited from this flash. Why a decent flash is not installed in more smartphones, is absolutely incomprehensible to me, because it simply removes low-light ratio in many everyday situations. To my mind the considerably more elegant and more effective solution than this constant Rumgemurkse with "back-illuminated BSI sensors" and software-side noise reduction by selective blurring of the image.
It should be noted that someone who after considering the pros and con's of the equipment for the 808 judges usually will not be disappointed by the device. So I would all the positive reviews here interpret at Amazon and also my experience confirms this. One should also be aware at aufgetretenene errors in test reports and reviews (older in October '12) that Nokia has improved the operating system in the latest update again noticeably , (Keyboard, browser, remaining bugs)
I can the reasons mentioned above are not absolute buy recommendation for anyone to express and yet I can not help to say that this device is impressive.
