I agree with the praise here without exception. And, although I am still waiting for my Nano SIM ;-)
When upgrading from a Lumia 720 (in front of HTC 8S WP first touch / smartphone) went alone to set up almost as if by magic: log in using Microsoft account and already came asking if I want to restore my old phone (Date of last backup ) or the unit was newly set up. Decided for the restoration and within a short time I even had my old home screen, incl. Tile backdrop photo of my children and the familiar, now somewhat lost out ends 2-column arrangement of tiles.
I almost did not have to intervene in the installation of my previous apps. Approximately 2 to 3 Apps no longer existed in its present form, it was because the software release WP 8.1 update 1 Lumia DENIM (= factory setting), or because of other versions, such as Nokia Here Drive because Here Drive + installed on the 830 yes. These tiles have been removed from me manually from the home screen. From 2-3 new and here already mentioned, pre-installed apps, I have then also separated and it was actually already. After only nor the individual apps had first called and if necessary registration data is entered. If Expected delivery finally comes my Nano-SIM, is merely yet WhatsApp's turn and that's it - for me super-easy and extremely convenient switch!
The essential has already been said about the device itself; it looks really high from running fast and some (as I am from a Windows Phone also used) and is really good in the hand. Jointly responsible for this is the - in my opinion - very successful back with the matte white cover. No comparison to the blast colors from 820 and 920, which cover almost makes a somewhat translucent impression such as the Lumia 620. It looks a whole course of higher quality than its 'plastic tray'. But it feels just a touch also less slippery as a glossy cover. In general, the design is not as square / pointed, how on pictures maybe my might as compared to the Lumia 930 and the 830 is certainly at least as good in the hand.
I'm not a declared enemy of permanently installed batteries, but the (unlike the Lumia 720 again) replaceable battery I can certainly something positive. Unfortunately, this and the removable cover is probably the reason for the disappearance of stylish slots for SIM and SD card from outside. Was tactile, well-liked in connection with the special 'Nokia-needle'. Since the lid very tightly seated and nothing wobbles or creaks but no problem - as long as it stays that way! ;-)
The camera also appears to be top and the expandability to 128GB SD card will then allow me probably soon to have my entire digital life on your phone. The key, back-up requiring things in OneDrive.
Of course a full HD display would be great and maybe I would still see a marginal difference to a camera with 20MP- sensor. But why pick up the 930? Was not an option for me because of the lack of memory expansion and Glance Screen.
And in - only theoretical for me - compared to the competition: Priced approximately 100 Euro is the Lumia 830 just over a Galaxy S4, S5 and under a cost about half as much as an actual iPhone (5, 6). -> I use a professional iPhone 5S 32GB; this is for me compared to my Lumia just a toy. No back button, a fairly oblique AutoCorrect (ok, I have also not had any trouble figuring out how I off the or umstelle why also? That must be working!) And a small display. And an extra charger for the thing I have also always carry ...
I am completely satisfied with my new Lumia 830, it further recommend warmly and gladly forgive the full 5 stars!
+ Update 22:10:14: After complete time operation by inserting the nano-SIM: Probably as a side effect of the continuous development of apps I have my entire chat history, profile picture and status of the last backup get loaded after WhatsApp activation - I'm thrilled! Likely as not said WP, but a feature WhatsApp be, but is reassuring to know that now (too?) With WP8 here nothing is lost.
+ Update 14:11:14: Unfortunately, there is now but a couple of things that interfere with the first perfect impression: As was also read somewhere before, I had sporadic problems with sudden closing apps; suddenly goes off the image and I end up on the home screen. That was very rare and has for some time now no longer happens. Possibly it has been done by interim update (s). The screen 'view' was for me when buying a knock-out criterion, since I use the Lumia as an alarm clock on the bedside table. The dimmed in night mode time with a gesture to look up has (still with my Lumia 720) sent my alarm earlier this year to retire. Here goes well, but just not manchaml sometimes.
For no apparent reason then to be as wild 'swept' on the display until the Glance screen but then appears. I might as well do without, and double-tap on the feature. Inconsistencies even when you connect via USB to the PC: It takes a long time until the device is detected and the Windows Phone app is started. Access to the device as a drive in Windows Explorer is in wait also not possible or takes just as long.
Speaking of space; I have my 64GB SanDisk Ultra SD card 'loaded' with almost 47GB music. The access times are so long that I went off the idea of having my entire music collection on the Lumi 830, again. Then it continues to back up only selected music on the go in the phone memory and the music library on an external hard drive.
Why can all evaluate as accurate? I have now ordered a Lumia 930 and since everything is running as smoothly as I had been accustomed to WP8 and am. Since the 830 indeed a great piece of hardware, I can actually only with a quite shaky software version "DENIM" explain to the 830 yes Factory has been and is not yet available for the 930. Would also hot for me in reverse, that gets 930 may have similar problems with this update ... Since the Lumia 930 but not just a little is still more impressive than the 830, but I probably get along well with the not expandable 32GB memory, I play seriously considered, the return 830 and 930 to retain.
PS: A real nuisance is the revised music app / music player, however, not only since the 'DENIM' update. As soon as I had the previous version to the touch, Cover of albums and artists with the MPATool recharged etc., comes the new version, which is no longer compatible with the tool! Hope, because soon comes an updated app. Especially as the Music app can not (more?) De-installed and a reset in this way is therefore not possible!
In total I have for all the little things pull retrospectively 1 star here yet. Wish to remain that all criticisms by update (s) are fixed in the short term, because the Lumia 830 is a top smartphone and me and my claims still says a little more than the 930. But only if everything ( round) runs.
+ Update 20:11:14: I have now decided with a heavy heart to the dream screen and the record-breaking speed of operation of the Lumia 930 and keep at least until further notice my 830. Mainly wg. the price because I do not want to spend as in my case nearly 400.- Euro for an almost new but used smart phone, in which I have to still make compromises -> lack of Glance screen and SD card slot. In conclusion, I can add, correct and confirm here following the Lumia 830 and my review:
- I'll get kicked out of apps and suddenly landing on the home screen, is not occurred since the last Neuaufsetzen.
- The problems in connection with the PC is clearly due to the memory card: Without SD card, the PC recognizes the device jiffy
and starts the WP App. With it takes many times longer.
- When wireless charging "chirps" the unit very quiet. The 930 that I had here for a few days, was definitely not Muckser of itself.
I do not mind because I have been in the living room directly in front of it and listen carefully to perceive the sound. Who the 830
however want to load on a QI-bowl on the bedside table, the idea is likely to reject pretty quickly ...
- The Glance screen definitely works at least at night / in the dark and limited in airplane mode to sporadically as already
described.
I am still enthusiastic about the device that also looks great next to a very good performance and equipment; By contrast, the 930 acts almost clunky. My 'wish Cell' would be a 930 with card slot and Glance Screen - in the case of a 830 :-)
++ 03:12:14 Addendum: The removal and subsequent reinstallation of the Glance screen / screen view has the problem of "falling asleep" of
Function overnight (hopefully permanently) resolved. For instructions, no guarantee (as part of the system and not uninstall
is provided): Set date manually plus about 100 years old -> I have set the year 2115. Then back to the Home screen and then the
Settings. When selecting the menu item 'screen view' now get an error message and a menu with 'Cancel' and
'Uninstall'. Correct When the uninstallation the date again, switch off the unit and restart. Then in
Search the app store 'screen' look '' of Microsoft Mobile and install. After that I started the machine and start fresh.
In 'Settings' menu is the screen "view", well as most recently installed application, then hiked to the bottom of the list - and
works now at last, after several hours of non-use without any problems!
