I have this external DVD burner optical drive as ordered for my 2011'er MacMini 5.2. Just works perfectly with OSX 10.6.8. Of course, an external drive is always kind of a compromise, but I am very happy at all to have an optical drive for my Mac after Apple in perfect innocence - decided wisdom that Mac users their old DVD's and Installation Media (- forgiveness may use PC such as Windows 7) is no longer in a "ALLinONE" and waived therefore to an optical drive in all newer Mac's. Steve - I miss you.
