Amandla (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Miles Davis .... after the release of "Tutu", the time the master had run for so many of his fans, I still belächele Today the purists who have partly not yet understood until today, which continues even in the musical development , Miles had not only understood always and at all times, but always included the younger generation of musicians, he has greedily imbibed well as their knowledge, skills and understanding of music and discovered for themselves many new things, what then seemingly playful with its already almost unattainable art of trumpet playing in his compositions more than just attention was.

So also be heard on the CD published in 1989 "Amandla" recorded with the "creme de la creme" of the then "young" savages, led by the bassist Marcus Miller, who also provided most of the compositions ..

1. Catembe 5:35 (Marcus Miller)
2. Cobra 5:15 (George Duke)
3. Big Time 5:40 (Marcus Miller)

As admirers of Miles Davis neutral or to stay meinungslos is difficult and even a call to its publications as bad, I see just in the case of Miles Davis as a presumption to myself ... is it just not happened yet, I a Album he had in his hands, which I was disappointed or that does not go under my skin ist'obwohl I also just the beginning of his so-called
"Last decade" (1981-1991) had again completely change my feelings, but what I have done at the beginning of his 70's Electric Time Miles with Miles before, which was very exciting for me.

The "Amandla" I see it as a successful continuation of his work of the 80 that his enormous experimentation just with more modern sounds again well documented ... the list of his collaborators speaks its own language ...

Crowning highlight of this for me really excellent album is coming from his heart trumpet tribute to Jaco Pastorius, highly emotional and going under the skin ... if you know how just Miles regretted the untimely death of this former bassist exception repeatedly.

By the way .. "Amandla" means in the language of the people of the Zulu "freedom" and can thus be seen as his political contribution to the situation at that time in South Africa

Here I can get a really delicious piece of "Miles Davis Music" recommend you ... after I now again many hours have dealt with it, I find it hard not they now finally in my personal "Hall of Fame" to increase. ..

Buy recommendation and to all top marks !!!
